EADING OF THE MINUTES: " Minutes of the special meeting IxP*d May 24, 1942 were read, cor- rected and approved as corrected. Minutes of the regular meeting were read and ap- proved as read. ILLS AND COMMUNICATIONS: CITY -WATER -FOR NAVY RESERVE AVIATION BASE: A letter was read from-Ltt.t:J-.—McD. Preacher, requesting permission from the City to tie into the city water main near the west side tank. Motion made by Downey seconded by James that the request of the U. S. Navy through Lt. J McD. Preacher be granted and that the Mayor and City Clerk.have power anda.authotity to sign all documents in connection therewith, also -that the Water Committee be given authorit to work out details with Navy.Officials; motion carried so erdered, city clerk to acknowledge receipt of correspondence. SPORTS FROM COMMITTEES ::: - POLICE & LICENSES James reports the police committee are unable to obtain revolver for the new patrolmen. McKibbin has made no report relative to obtaining gas guns. Committee to look for a used V-8 coupe for prowl car service. WATER &SEWER The water committee reports the installation of one4is �iow underway. STREETS AND ALLEYS; Tree watering is in progress. Ways and means of parking on lots west of City Hall was discussed no action taken. GRAVEL PIT owned by Harold Blanton at the S.P. & S spur and Ainsworth, being left under grade by a construction company was given some consideration, to effect a decision on what action to take it was decided that each councilman review the situation and express their recommendation, Downey is in favor:of having the 1?lann ng dommission investigate and made a report. CITY BUILDINGS: Fire ehief to attend to, cleaning gutters on City Hall building to prevent leaking. The ceiling of fire engine room is in a very bad condition Mr. Co suggested that -the old plaster hanging loose be taken off,i eag PARKS AND CEMETERY Lindermanreportsthat fisherman have digging into the lawn at River View Park near"a leaking hydrant, it was thought that fixing the leak would take dare of this. The float at the swimming beach was reanchored Sunday by the street crew. The mayor reports one tenis net down in Sylvester Park. REPORTS FROM OFFICERS: Water ManagerX D. W. McGhee's monthly report was read. City Treasurer's monthly report was read. The City Clerk furnished each menber with a monthly --budget report of all departments. Building Inspector A. M. Haylett reports permits issued in the amount of $7,300.00 in the month of May 1942. ORDINANCE NO. 495, DEFINING RESTAURANT, EMPLOYEE, EATING AND COOKING UTENSILS, HEALTH OFFICER, ETC., REQUIRING PERMITS FOR THE OPERATION OF SUCH ESTAB- LISHMENTS, PROHIBITING THE SALE OF ADULTERATED, UNWHOLESOME OR MISBRANDED FOOD OR DRINK, REGULATING THE INSPECTION GRADING, REGARDING, AND PLACARDING OF SUCH TSTA LISHTIIENTS, THE ENFORCEMENT OF THIS ORDINANCE AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOL. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:: INCANDESCENT LAMP CONTRACT:: Requests for the contract from the Pasco Hardware ani the Columbia Hardware were read, motion made by Downey that the Pasco Hardware be allowed to continue with the contract motion died for the want of a second; it was decided to contact the Columbia Hardware Co., to ascertain the make of lamps they expected to furnish. PAUL SAVAGES WATER BILL:: More time asked to complete report. SCRAP IRON:: USED by C. V. Downey. City Clerk to Collect before the first of July. APPOINTMENTS Mrs. Mildred D. -Liston of Kennewick Washington after taking the Civil Service examination, was appointed Police Matron. L. L. Stringham was appointed to succeed himself as a member of the Planning Com- mission for a term of six years ending April 7, 1948. C. L. Booth was appointed to succeed himself as a member of the Planning Cornmissiol for a term of six years ending April 7, 1947; Motion made by Cox seconded by James approving the appointments. motion carried ,so ordered. TELEPHONE COMPANY REQUESTING ORDINANCE NO. 486 AMENDED':: City Attorney advises a report will be handed in at a later date. NEW BUSINESS TRANSFER OF 14ONIES:: Motion made by Linderman seconded by Cox authorizing the City Treasurer to transfer`$5000.00 from the Current Expense Fund to The City Street Fund. BONDS, FOR MEMBERS OF THE CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT: It was considered advisable that each member of the Police force be bonded, it was suggestee that the city purchase the ponds payable January 1st 1943 which budget will take care of the 1942 and 1943 bond, this was turned to the Police Committee. TRUNK LINE SEWER EASEMENT GRANTED. U. S. Navy Reserve Air Training Base easement was read and discussed. FAIR RENTS ADJUSTER:: The Mayor price control board will be here to unfair rents.
