ROLL CALL; By Clerk Councilmen present were D. Byron Baker, W. R. Cox, C. V. Downey, R. 0. Hall and M. J. Linderman. Councilmen absent were Robert James and M. J. Mc- Donnelli SPECIAL MEETING CALLED TO CONSIDER FORMATION OF HEALTH EREA:: The United States Public Health Service has recommended that a joint health district be established serving Benton and Franklin Counties, to be agreeded upon by the Commission of both.counties and the city officials of Kennewick and Pasco headquarters to be set up in the Franklin County Courthouse, personal to consist of one doctor acting as health off: nurses and office clerk. Dr. John A. Kahl dounty and city health officer of Walla Walla is to cooperate with this district axal granting the use of their laboratory facilities and supervision service. Pasco's portion of the finances to December 11, 1942 would be in the amount of $445.0( $145.00 is now set up in the City Health Officer's Department which will be discontinued. in closing this discussion it was moved by Downey seconded by Hall that the City Council wished to go on record as approving the dtate set up on public health activities and that the City of Kennewick, Benton and Franklin Counties be so informed, and the regulat pro- cedure for financing be taken; motion carried so ordered. ALF BUCHANAN RESIGN AS CHIEF OF POLICE:: The Mayor handed in the resignation of Alf Buchanan as chief of police effective June 1, 1942, retainin g the position of day time Patrolman and receiving Patrolman's salary. ACTING AS CHIEF; Patrolmen will take turns of thirty days each acting in the capacity of chief. U. S. 0. BUILDING: A U.S.O. Building lovation was considered, lots owned by the city adjacent City Hall is a very desirable site, the purchase of more property from the School Board was discussed. ADJOURNMENT:: Motion made by Hall seconded by Linderman that the meeting adjourn to next regular meeting night June 2, 1942 eight o -clock P. M. Tuesday. Passed and approved this wday of 1942.
