CALL TO ORDER: Meeting.called to order at eight -five O'clock by Honorable T,'Iayor E. S. Joh Ston.
ROLL CALL: By Clerk, Councilmen present were W. R.,Cox, C. V. Downey, R. 0. Hall, Robert
James, M. J. Linderman and M. J. McDonnell council D. Byron Baker arrived late.
BILLS & COM1,1JNICATIONS:
A voucher presented by Mrs. Gertrude Speier, and held up from last meeting was order d
paid through a motion made by Downey seconded by Baker carried by a roll call vote o 6.
EASEiJIENT FOR NAVY.SEWER CONNECTION:
A letter was read from Lleateriafi-t 21gM Preacher to the 14ayor, requesting an easement
connection. with joining the Navy Air Base Sewer system to the city system, letter t
to the City Attorney.
FIRE E UIPHENT OPERATING OUT OF THE CITY LIP,IITS:
A letter was read from Fire Chief TJilt Wight in regard to taking the fire equipment
out of the city limits to assist eight Goverment project in case of a necessity.
Motion made by Downey seconded by TJIcDonnell that one truck be used to assist with f
at either government project, also to obtain a ruling from the State Fire T.Iarshall
as to the effect this might have on the Fireman and equipment insurance; motion car
so ordered. Projects to be so notified.

READING OF ORDINAI,ICES:
ORDINANCE NO. 493. DECLARING AN ET.IERGENCY:
Motion made by Downey seconded by Hall that ordinance No, 49J be given the first re ding
Amendment suggested by Linderman that the hourly wage for deputy hire'in the `�reasu er's
and Clerk's Office be raised to seventy-five cents. no objections to amendment.
Motion made by James seconded by Hall that Ordinance No. 4D3 has been given the fir t
reading. Motion made by Linderman seconded by James that Ordinance No.483 be given
the second reading by title only, motion carried so ordered. 14otion made by Linderm n
seconded.by Hall carried so ordered that Ordinance No 49J has been given the second
reading by title only,. motion carried so ordered.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
CANCEL ORDER ON GRADER
The Street Commission recommend that steps be taken to cancel order for the grad e
1.2ation made by Linderman seconded by Hall that the recommendation be accepted motif,
carried so ordered.
BROKEN SIDEVYALKS
The side walk joining Roy Collins residence has been badly broken, ,gS4
contact the owner and request that corrections be made.
WATER RATE TO CONTRACTORS-
The Water Committee recommend that the rate given contractors be cut to .25
per 1000 gallon. Clifton, Applegate and Henry George be billed at this rate
consumption. City Clerk to so advise.

GARBAGE COLLECTION AT VOLUNTEER PARK AND CITY HALL:
The park Committee reports that the Garbage man will service the Park and City Hal -
for $5.00 per month. T/Iotion made by Downey seconded by Linderman that this service
be obtained and finaced through the item of labor in Volunteer Park motion carried
so ordered.
JANITOR'S SALARY:
The Building Committee chairman repgrts that the City Hall Janitor's salary might
be raised to $35.00 per month thus making a raise of $10.00 per month andthus reta n
his services; T,Zotion made by Linderman seconded by James that the chairman's sugge tion
be complied with and raise the Janitors salary $10.00 per month for a period of
five months motion carried by a roll call vote of seven. The $50.00 to be paid out of
the $100.00 set up for Furniture & Fixtures.
SEWERAGE DISPOSAL PLANT2',&, PUIJPING UNIT:
The T.Iayor suggests that the WaterCommittee/get together with Lieutena"nt. 1!cD Preaher

FRED SCHUNETIAN succeeds John P. Green as Caretaker of Volunteer Park effective May, 1942.
PARKING LOTS; Chairman of the Police Committee to instruct the Police Dept. to arr°nge a
RECREATION BUILDING::: Obtaining a site on which to locate a Recreation building f r
parking system on lots just west of City Hall. Downey to contact D. Visger about a parking
system on lot back of the Theater.
