REGULAR I-10ETING C IL1ITTEE ROOM MARCH 3, 1942
CALL TO ORDER: Meeting called to order at eight -twenty P. ISI. Honorable Mayor E. S.
Johnston presiding.
ROLL CALL: I By Clerk Councilmen present.were D. Byron Baker, C. V. Downey, Robert
James, III. J. Linderman and Fred Selph. Councilmen absent were R. 0. Hall and
M. J. McDonnell.
REGULAR ORDER OF BUSINESS SET ASIDE; Through a motion made by James seconded by Baker
carried so ordered. To hear from Mrs. Noland regarding the Police Matron's positi n.
Mrs. Noland having phoned her resignation to the Mayor wished to be succeeded by
Mrs. Juvenal, but was informed that her resignation had be accepted and the position
would be filled by a qualified applicant from the Civil Service list; she asked t
withdraw her resignation pending the Civil Service Examination, this was not graned.
REGULAR ORDER OF BUSINESS RESUMED by unanimous consent of the Council.

No. 394 and requesting that the closing hour be changed from twelve o'clock mid nigAt

REPORTS nROM COMMIT^1EES:
FIRE & LIGHT; Fire and Light Committee scheduled to met next week. Fire truck in n ed of
a new heavy duty battery 25 plates, approxminate cost $77.00, Committee to check on
type and costs.
SIREN is being installed on top of the City Hall building.
FIRE CHIEFS REPORT ON SCHOOL INS_PECTIOI'1 1941. Motion made by Downey that a letter b
written to the Superintendent of Schools copy to the Board of Directors to the effe t
that corrections and repairs to the School Building and Fire equipment -be made cor-
recting conditions as reported by the City Fire Chief in 1941, necessary correction
in the report to be stilted in this letter motion seconded by Linderman carried so o dered.
James asked to use the Fire Truck to wash the Streets in a couple weeks 0. K. by Dowley.
POLICE DEPARTIENT; Police report was read, Baker recommends placing two more Patrolm n-
on.the Force right away, one could take care of the days off and the extra work on'p y
days and Saturday nights, Linderman made a motion to accept the Committees;o report t en
withdrew the motion; PJlotion made by Baker that the report be accepted as reported -motion
seconded by Downey carried by a roll call vote of four. Police Department ll have some
kalsomining-done and lockers built.
WATER & SEVIER: Mr. Fann desires to give the City an easement °L present sewer back of
his property on "A" street, motion made by Linderman that the easment be rejected mo ion
seconded by James carried so ordered.
STREETS & ALLEYS: Street crew working back of the round house, first street Brought lo
grade in Gray's addition, the next work will be near the east side school;
Dump Truck to arrive in a few days. Mote_paint_is needed for the traffic lines, mot on
made by Baker seconded by Linderman that the needed supply be purchased motion carri d
so ordered. Scrap iron ready for sale.
BUILDING INSPECTOR'S_FEE Suggested by Downey that the Building Inspectors fee be han les
through the City Treasurers office, following a short discussion a motion was made b
Downey that a detailed report and all funds be turned to the City Treasurer motion s conded
by James carried so ordered.

GARBADE: Is being dumped by the Army, other places that at the dump Street and Polic
Departments to watch for such violations and report names of offenders. i*

City of Pasco, and suthorizing the issuance of City Wgrrants for the expense of Medi al
and First Aid Supplies for the Municipal Defehse Commission and for the Civilian Def nce
of the City. Motion made by Baker seconded by James that Ordinance No. 490 has been liven
the first heading motion carried so ordered. Motion made by Downey seconded by Ja���es that
Ordinance No. 490 be given the second reading by title only, motion carried so order d

seconded by Lindeman that wages be raised to .60 cents per hour in both departments
Chairman and Sectetary of the Civil Service Commission to be notified motion carried
with out dissent on roll call -Effective date to be March lst, 1942.

Mr. Haylet discussed with the Council the trailer. Ordinance No. 489 regarding th
$500.00 surety bond and the 50 per day inspection fee, motion made by Baker seco ded
by Downey that the 5¢ inspection fee remain in the Ordinance motion carried so o dewed.
Motion made by Baker that an inspection fee of $2.00 for the first inspection b made
by an-amendment/motion seconded by Selph carried so ordered.
