Johns presiding. ROLL CALL: By Clerk Councilmen present were Harry Chenoweth, R. 0. Hall, Robert Jame, and R.J.Linderman; Councilmen absent were D.Byron Baker, C.V. Downey and M.J.McDonne 1. READING OF THE MINUTES: Minutes of the prebious meeting were read and approved as read. REGULAR ORDER OF BUSINESS SET ASIDE:: Motion made by Chenoweth seconded by James that the regular order of bus- iness be set aside to hear from Grover Russell in regard to the purchase ®td instal lation of a transmitter and car unites in conjunction with the County and on the sam fbequeney; motion carried, Council to consider this proposition for the 1942 budget. LIBRARY C00JITTEE: Mrs. Leroux and Mrs. Hurley spoke in regard to a raise in salary for both the Librarian and the Library Janitor which was shown in the tentative budget and th will be given consideration by the,Council; The Library rev6lving fund was also dis- cussed and the City Attorney was requested to furnish information in connection with the handling of this fund.. REGULAR ORDER OF BUSINESS RESUMED:: by unanimous consent. BILLS AND COMMUNICATIONS: A voucher in favor of S. H. DePue, having been witheld account no funds Volunteer Park labor fund; A transfer replenished the fund and the voucher was order1 paid through a motion made by Chenoweth secohded by James carried by roll call vote d four. ROY SHAVE RESIGNS A letter was read from Roy Shaw tendering his resignation as City Hall Janitor, effective August 15th, 1941. Resignation accepted. PUBLIC HEARING AND GARBAGE ORDINANCE SET ASIDE: Motion made by Hall seconded by Chenoweth that the reading of the Garbag Ordinance, also the public hearing on the vacation of ten feet of River Street be he over to next regular meeting night September 4th 1941. Motion carried so ordered. ORDINANCE NUMBER 468 VACATING NORTH NINTH STREET: Motion made by James seconded by Chenoweth that Ordinance #468 have its Third reading in full, motion carried so ordered. Motion made by Linderman seconded by Hall that SbdtiQncFive be amended by the additi at the ending there of"In effect at the time of the effective date of this Ordinance' motion carried by Roll call vote of four. Motion made by James seconded by Chenoweth that Ordinance #468 has had its third rea as amended motion carried so ordered. Motion made by Chenoweth seconded by James that Ordinance # 468 be adopted as amende motion carried by roll call vote of four. MISCELLANEOUS: Through general discussion it seemed apparent no action had been taken b,. the "Clean Up" Committee and no meettgg of the Committee had been called; Therefore Linderman was appointed chairman to re#lace Downey, James and the City Attorney also act with this Committee. s _n )f .d ing TENTATIVE BUDGET FOR 1942. The 1942 tentative budget was considered but not completed. The salary for the City Hall Janitor was raised from 15.00 $ a month to #25.00 per month and connected with the Janitor work at the Library which salary was raised from $30.00 per month to $50.00 this along with caring for the River Vie Park at $10.00 per month would constitute a salary of $85.00 per month. Mr Emmit Watts was employed for this position; City Hall service starting August 15th 1941, the other two assignments January 1st 1942. Motion made by Linderman seconded by Chenoweth that the salary of the City Hall Janitor be raised from $15.00 to $25.00 per Month effect ve August 15th 1941, with the $10.00 additional salary to be paid out of the City Hall Furniture and Fixtures Fund Motion carried so ordered.
