REGULAR MEETING COMMITTEE ROOM FEBRUARY 6, 1941.
CALL TO ORDER: Meeting called to order at eight -fifteen P. M. Honorable Mayor
E. S. Johnston presiding.

READING OF THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING:
Minutes off'the previous meeting were read and approved as read.

The following bills against the City were read and ordered paid
through a motion made by McDonnell that all bills signed by the claims commit-
tee be paid Motion seconded by Linderman and carried by a roll call vote of
seven.

VACATING NINTH & NIXON STREETS.
A letter of January 21, from the School Board requesting that Ninth Stre
betw6dri Bonneville & Yakima be vacated; Motion made by Chenoweth and seconded
by Linderman to grant the vacating of this btreet to the School, City Attorne;
asked that the Motion be with held, Cheneweth and Linderman withdrew their mo
The Mayor expressed the desire of an investigation, Motion made by James and
seconded by Hall that the request be turned to the Street and Alley Committee
for investigation and hearing at the next meeting motion carried so ordered.
The second letter bareing the same date from the School Board requesting the
City to Vacate Nixon Street between Second and Thitd this was turned to the
Street and Alley Committee by a motion made by James seconded by Hall and
carried so ordered. was was introduced to the council b
LIABIALITY INSURANCE for the entire City
WENDELL P. BROWN DESIRES FLEET INSURANCE: Mr. McDonald, com. to investigate.
A letter of February 3,x1941 from Wendell P. grown Representative of the
North West Casualty Co. soliciting the liability Fleet Ins., on city owned
cars was refered to the Finance & Judicary Committee through a motion made
by Linderman and seconded by Baker carried so ordered.
PETITIONS & REMONSTRANCES:
REPORTS FROM
SEWER LATERAL ON SOUTH FIFTH:•
A petition with twenty signers was read to the Mayor and Council petitionin
for a lateral sewer and connection to the main on south Fifth Stree t; this
was turned to the Committee on Water and Sewers.

Mr. Downey reports the Street Light extension is making some progress; The
City Clerk was instructed to write the Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing
Company for a price on needed supplies and fixtures.
The Parks and Cemetery Committee reports about twenty cords of wood sawed at
Volunteer Park Motion made by Linderman seconded by James to sell this wood
Mr. Tess Hales Superintendent of the W.P.A.Project stated that it would be
irregular to sell wood accumulated by W.PA Labor, Linderman and James with-
drew their motion. Motion was then made by Linderman that the wood be measur
and turned in at the Lumber Yard namely the Twin City of Pasco, and the equi
valent obtained for Park use as needed Motion seconded by James and carried
so ordei?ed. McDonnell reports no Committee meeting in regard to G4rbage Ord.

After a short deliberation motion was made by Downey and seconded by Hall to
accept Hostet ers bid on the used 1940 Ford Dump Truck, carrying a new car guar-
antee, and retal charges removed, motion carried by a roll cAll vote of fours Bak
Linderman.and McDonnell voting against the motion. A RESOLUTION authorizing and
directing.the City Treasurer to transfer to the'City Street Fund from the variou
local improvement funds monies sufficient to pay for the purchase of the truck;
and to be paid back when sufficient monies have accumulated in the Street Fund
from regular surces of income; was read, Motion made by Chenoweth to adopt the
resolution motion seconded by Hall carried by a roll call vote of five; Linderma
and McDonnell voting no.
PARK BOARD DISCONTINUED:
�.Copies of letters to Mrs. Clara Chute, Harry Sandstedt and Reggie Denny, members
of the park board, from the Mayor, informing the Board that, the management of tr
City Parks had been vested in the City Council's Committee of Parks and Cemetery;
Have been filed with the City Clerk.
LIBRARY APPOINTMENT:
C1eon H. Brewer has been appointed to the Library Board to succeed F. C. Brown
for a term of five years expiring with December 1945. Motion made by Cheneweth
seconded by Linderman to accept the appointment motion carried so ordered.

Roy Shaw was appointed janitor at the City Hall to succeed R. Richardson., Feb. 111141.
ELECTION BOARD ADDS ANOTHER PRECINCT TO THE CITY.
Precincts number four, five, six and seven have over three hundred registered
voters; A resolution adopted by the Election Board adds another precinct to the
City the new one will include part of six and part of five and will be known as
precinct eight, thus changing to some extent all the City Precincts, these chang
are now being made by the City Clerk.
NEW BUSINES-S: Mr. L"'nderman expressed the desire of having the City Printing business
divided between the Pasco Press and the Pasco Herald, through a suggestion made hy
the City Attorney a motion was made by Downey and seconded by Linderman that the
