City Clerk Reports the amount received for Business Licenses to date is$6,7 THIRD READING OF ORDINANCES FOR PASSAGE: Amotion that ordinance number 444 have its third reading was made by Downey seconded by P angle, carried. Motion q*ade by Partch and seconded by Downey that ordinance number 444 has'. third and final reading, carried Motion made by Linderman that ordinance number 444 be finally adopted as re seconded by Pangle, carried by Roll call vote of six. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Correspondence from Attorney Marquis of 4alla walla, relative to L.I.D. Bond by Mr. Disman was given to C. It. O'Brien to ascertain how many bonds Disman holds and mach he would take to liquidate his entire holdings Motion made by Downey and seconde Partch; carried. Transfer of linense for lunch room to Merle Kirk was not acted 'upon. NEW BUSINESS: A. M Haylett is requested by the Council to make a monthly report of Buildii: issued, Clerk to so advise. R. Loyd Johnson submited a p®tLtion for water service on Henry Street between and Seventh,I7ater Committee and ',later Llanager D. w. McGhee to figure out a solution of sort and present same at next meeting August 17th. Mr. J. J. Simpson wishes to extend a water pipe line from his present three_q inch pipe service, to other lots adjoining; (later Manager D. W. McGhee not in favor of hook up. This will be investigated and figured on by the 'dater Committee and D. W. Mc G, Mr. J. J. Simpson also wishes to connect up with the City Sewer System, City not in favor of additional hook-ups on present trunk line. A new trunk line Sewer is needed badly west of Eighth Ave.,This was mentioned discussed breifly. ASSISTING PURCHASING AGENT: Motion made by Pangle ret—ifying action of the Layor in appointing Adah Perry,, Ehrehasing agent and establishing a salary ff twenty-five dollars per month effective 1939, motion secioned by Downey and carried by roll call vote of six. C. M. O'Brien suggested that a committee be appointed to contact lir Collier o3 successor to ascertain what to expect from the N. P. A. next year, for budget purposes The purchase of a new pick up truck for the Street Department was discussed es expenditure about eight hundred dollars, no action.k taken. Council voicedthe opinion that the County gravel pit west of the City Limits s. be filled in but no action was taken. TO ORDER: Meeting called to order at eight oclock P.M. Mayor Raymond Hicks presiding. CALL By Clerk Councilmen present were W. E• Burns,C. V. Downey, M. J. Linderman, V. Pangle and A. M. Westby. Absent were M. J. McDonnell and Art Partch. TES Of the previous meeting were read and approved as read. & COMMUNICATIONS" A vouvher in the amount of fifty dollars ($50.001 presented by the veterans of Foreigh Wars Post 1691,by Adjutant General, E. B. Arnold, for Special Police service Li during their Carnival in May. Motion made by nderman that this bill be paid, seconied by Westby and carried by a roll call vote of(5)five. IS FROM COMMITTEES: V. L. Pangle reports that Mr I. M. Ingham will look after poisoning rats at the 10ily dtmp. License Cimmittee report that Merl Kirk will not need the lunch room license traps_ ferred, as it will be necessary for him to obtains Service Station license. City Clerk Reports sBusine ss License Fees to date amount to $6,573.25. The July budget report was presented to each Councilman. Police Judge A. Id. Haylett reports $17.50 collected in fines during the Month of July. Building Inspector's Report shows $4,600.00 estimated expenditures for the Month June ans .13,150.00 estimated exp enditures for the Month of July. Water Manager's Report was read showing a gain of $1,544.67. City Treasurer's Report for the Month of July was read. The Planning Commission's Report for the :Nona* of August was regd. SHED BUSINESS: In regard to water service to R. Loyd Johnson's property in Sylvester Second Ad Block one, lots nine to sixteen inclusive, on Henry Street between Morbart & Arth A one inch pipe line now serves the tree tap at the corner of yorbart and Henry B twelve Sylvesters first Addition, f3doit the alley main in block(12) twelve, Earl J owns eight lots in block two Sylvesters Second Addition starting with lot one; Iva Manager D. W. McGhee recommends a two inch line for service far to both places. T cost of the two inch line from the alley main to property line of two hundred and eleven feet would be about $107.67, half to be paid by the property owners pluss sonal service. Johnson not in a position to order this work done at the present t BUSINESS: -�V. L. Fann was asking about getting water service to his property in block the Addition, on Nixon Street; There is a one-half inch line now in the alley. Mayor suggested the Water Manager and Water Committee investigate this situation. Harold Blanton County Engineer discussed with the Council the Oiling of "A" S from Tenth west to the City Limits 62100th. of a mile, with bituminous matt sur at an approximate cost of between seven and eight hundred dollars, Blanton to su exact figures, cost to be reimbursed from Gas Tax fund. Motion made by Downey that the City Council authorize the construction of Bi inous Matt ell'surgaee on roadway between the intersection of Tenth and "A" west City Limits on "A" Street. And further authorizing the Mayor to write an approp Resolution. Motion seconded ny Linderman. Carried. The Tehtative Budget for 1940 was presented and discussed. At eleven thirty Motiion to adjourn was made by Pangle, until the next regular meeting Septmeher 7th eight oclock P. M. Motion seconded by Downey.
