ROLL CALL: Council met in ad adjourned meeting with Mayor Hicks presiding and fol. lowing councilmen present on roll call: Burns, Christensen, Haylett, Partch, Wirth and Westby; absent O'Herin. FOLLOWING CLAIM AGAINST CURRENT EXPENSE was Pead and motion made by Haylett, seconde by Wirth and carried without dissent od roll call, that bill be allowed: Warrant 14469 Gertrude Speier, services as city clerk Jan. 1, 2 and 3rd $4.84 CERTIFIED CHECKS POSTED WITH THE CITY BY Steel Tank & Pipe Co. of Portland (425.00) and Steel Construction Co. (.410.00) were ordered returned to these firma, the mayor instructing the clerk to that effect and asking the council if there were any objections, and no one objecting. City Cler . 1 CITY COUNCIS, CHAM82115 Adjourned Session January 5th, 1939. 64 Preceding the adjournment of the retiring Members, Hearty Thanks and appre ciation was expressed by Mayor Hicks for the splendid assistance and cooperation of the group. Mayor Hicks called new Council Members elect, Pangle, Linderman, McDonnell and Downey to fill vacancyes created by retiring Members Haylett, Wirth and Chri Stenson. To fill the vacancy of Gertrgde Speier, Adah Perry elect assumed the position of Clerk, providing Legal credentials. Brief discussion of the functions and operations of Council Committee apt pointments was offered by Mayor Hicks, and suggested Committee appointments off. red. Motion to adjourn to give Councilmen an opportunity to meditate on Committ as appointments made by Pangle seconded by Partch. Importance of the appointment of the Finance and Judicary Committee was emphasized by Mayor Hicks; That the City offices and financial function can be carried on, and proper transfers conducted at and early date. Finance and Judicary Committee, Pangle, Partch and Linderman were appoint ed and instructed to conduct necessary functions of that committee and to trans fer city officers. . Attorney O'Brein suggested an informal meeting of the Council group to discuss and arrange Committee appointments.
