VACATING ALLEY I14 BLOCK 24, RIVERSIDE ADDITION discussed and following, resolution
was read: "RESOLUTION FIXING TI11E OF HEARING ON PETITION TO VACATE AN ALLEY:
WHEREAS, Anna Beck has filed a petition for the vacation of the Southernmost all
East and West through Block 24 in Riverside Addition to Pasco:
"And it appearing therefrom that she is the owner of more than two-thirds of the
property abutting on said alley;
"THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Pasco, that the 15t
day of December, 1939, at the hour of 9 PL, in the Council Chambers of the City of Pasco,
and the same is hereby fixed as the time ani place of hearing on said petition End thn Cit
Clerk is hereby instructed to post notices of such hearing on said petition for at least
twenty (20) days, set up in three (.3) of the most public places in the City of Pasco, and
in a conspicuous place in said alley so sought to be vacated."

Report of the ,,,star Dept. for the previous month showed a loss of •,p4114.72, this
beinF, due to a paymert of $4792.00 made on the new water tank.
City Clerk reported licenses collected sitlee last report at $193.50, making total
collections to date $7716.00

"BE IT RESOLV;;ij, by the City Council of the City of Pasco, that the City Attorney be
horized to settle the controversy with the Steel Tank & Pipe Co. of Oregon upon the �5tz
lowing basis:
"That the City waive all claims against the said company for damages by reason of the
t that the cnnstr,,ction of the txxk 400,000 gallon water tank was not comnlatel within the ti
e specified in the contract, in conFideration of which the Steel Trnk p, Pine Company
ve all claims againat the city by reasnn of taws paid the State of dashington on the
struction of said tank, said waiver being upon the ground and for the reasons that
spid tank is held to be a part of the real estate.
"That the City Clerk he authorized to issue a warrant to the said Steel Tank ?: Pipe
pany, of Oregon, for the sum of Five Hundred Seventy Dollars (570.00) heretofore deducted
on its claim as damages for delay in completion of the work.
"That said warrant be issued and delivered to the said Steel Tank & Pipe Company of

that I:Ir. Rtrkwood the owner, had informed him that he had made arrangements to sell the
place and the building would be removed. Building Inspector was instructed to as
investigate and report at the next meeting.

GEORGIAN ROOKS LICENSE: IIatterof issuing a license to Betty Roberts to run the
rgia,n Rooms was brought up, the police being opposed to gKKixtt granting the license
motion was made by PJirth, seconded by O'Herin and carried, that the license application
rejected and license fee returned to applicant, Betty Roberts. WAHRAIdT 14396 issued.
Matter of license for the new Save L4ore Drug store brought up, as to whether the
ense to be issued was to be for 1939 or 1939 and council was of the opinion that the
inence should be en -forced and no exception made.
The Council nroceeded to canvass the votes cast at the city general election held
n ilecember 6th, 1939. Witnesses to the count included for the League Ticket, Mr. and
rs. Chas. Petterson, L. 14. Goodell, Geo. N. Hill and Mrs. Veta I:dason, while for the
ndenendent Citisens. S. 11. McGee chocked the count. Daring the counting and reeding of
pilots Mrs. Mason stood behind Haylett who read off the nrmes, while Wirth opened the
nvelope containing absentee ballots.
Previous to counting the ballots, City Clerk Gertrude Speier submitted an adfidavit
o the effect that the eldetion returns had in no way been altered by additions or erasures
nd were the sane as when she received them.
After adding the absentee ballots and checking the poll books, dihe following
esolution was read:
"The City Council of the City of Pasco, having met at the City Hall for the purpose
fcanvassing the vote cast at the City General Election December 6, 1939, and having proceed
lin the manner required by law to dulycenv9ss the said vote and examine and record the
?sentee ballots cast in said election, finds:
"That at said election there were cast: For Raymond Hicks, for Idayor, the sum
f 107 votes; for Mary Mee, for City Treasurer„ 995 votes; ffior Mrs. E. W. L andt, for City
reasurer, 426 votes; for Adah It. Perry, for City Clerk, 1099 votes; for C. LI. O'Brien,
:r City Attorney, 656 votes; for X. J. Grimm, for City Attorney, 590 votes; that for
