Manley, Lots 19, 31 and 32 in Block 23, Gerry's Addn. and Lot 9, Block 1, Pettit?s Addn. This was due to constrnction of sidewalk on Columbia. St. Motion made by O'Herin, seconded by Christensen and carried that the communication be filed and Horrigan & Horrigan be notified. Communication read from iiev. Fred Schilling thanking council for having a 200 watt Is= installed at 9th & Lewis Sts. Communication received from Norman Hill, asking, for permission to operate a vehicle safety inspection station on Columbia St. between 2nd end 3rd, beginning about Dec. 1st and motion was made by O'Herin, seconded by Christensen and carried, that the request be granted. Communication from E. R. Hoffman of the P. 7d. A. advised the city that the filtratio plant file was in .,ashinaton for consideration. Communication from the ,Dash. Construction league urged that cities Fncngxs follow up nrorosed PWA projects and was ordered filed. T. L. fanning of the Steel Tank & Pipe Co. was present accompanied by E. L. Davis as his attorney nd offefad the suggestion that the city hold up payment of the N535.20 and refer it o the State Tax Commission and let the latter advise who is to pay the tax. He stated rey could not accept !Ir. O'Brien's proposition of deducting 5b1105.20 from their bill. ealso asks,] that the city waive the penalty of 4570. assessed. Motion was then made by'Jirth, seconded by O'Herin and carried, that the matter of tax (jp*535.20) be Taft up o the city attorney to try to straighten the matter out. b1r. O'Brien stated, however, hat the matter was settled; the tax commission had been contacted and the city should of nay the tax. The penalty of :x570.00 was discussed and Mr. Davis arRmad against imoosing the penalty and called attention to the original proposal which stated that the rice would not include the sales tax. Mr. Hanning stated that while they would not ceent the proposal of the city attorney, he world be willing to have the city hold out the amount of the penalty and tax until 1.1r. Thereupon Haylibtt moved, econded by Nirth, that the balance of the contract, excepting tax and penalty, be paid )the Steel Tank & Pine Co. and that the city council instruct the city attorney to egotiate an agreement with Mr. Davis, as attorney for the contractor, retarding, balance f the bill claimed by the Steel Tank & Pipe Co. Roll call ordered and motion passed ithout any dissenting vote. WAIUANT No. 3395 for X4792. issued. L. I. D. WARRANTS O'Wi4ED BY HAhrly DE IvIUTH: .J. R. Cox was present and asked t action had been taken by the city in regard to paying old L. I. D. 'Warrants owned 14r. DeMuth and was advised that no report had been made by the Finance Committee. ORDINANCE No. 435 (Zoning) action postponed until meeting of i4ov. 17th. A W. P. A. project for improving streets was held up at request of Wirth, as wanted to see how it tied up with other projects. BIDS 014 SIGNAL FOR -4E-1V 'ATER TANK were opened, only )ne bid for constructing e signal line being received; this bid was from the Empire Electric Co., who proposed build extension of present signal circuit from a point between Lewis and Clark Sts. 5th to the new water tank at a cost of ;446.12. !.lotion made by Haylett, seconded by rns and carried, that the city accent the proposal of the Empire Electric Co. and the ty attorney be instructed to prepare contract with them for the extension of the line. BIDS FOR FURi4ISHING INSTRUMS14TS were held up until the next meeting.
