Adjourned session _ June 6th, 1939
ROLL CALL: Pursuant to agreement, the city council met in adjourned session with
Mayor Hicks presiding for a short time and then turning the meeting over to the mayor pro
tem (O'Herin). Present on roll call were Councilmen Burns, Christensen, Haylett, LeRoux,
O'Herin and 'Wirth; absent Partch.
Minutes of meeting held May 23rd were read and enproved.
EAGLES
CARNIVAL: A committee from the Eagles was present and stated they were bri
ing the Martin's
United Shows, a carnival, to Pasco July 19th and 23rd and wanted to be
advised if
any other organization brought one in which might interfere.
They rhentioned
matter of
"police protection" during the carnival but were told
that nothing could be done
under p1resent
conditions.

upon motion made by Haylett, seconded by LeRoux and carried,
Communication from Assn. of Wash. Cities urged support of Intiative No. 127, but
nothing was done.
Petition read from R. G. Wetzel and 47 others asking for some kind of traffics safety
measure for 10th and Shoshone Sts. and motion was made tk by Rkx#staxKKxXxsrsexx»tad by Burns
seconded by Christensen and carried that it be referred to the proper committee and it was
nassed to the Street Committee for handling.
Finance Committee reported regarding deputy city treasurer and recommended that a.
bond be furnished by the Ieputyfor $5000. and that there was only $42.16 left in the fund
for a deputytreasurer as all ed by the budget. Motion made by Burns, seconded by
Christensen, that the report of the Finance Committee be accepted with the exception that th
recommendation of the mayor that gepuutbe paid at the rate of $"125.00 per month be adopted
and that the acting deputy treasurer �e paid on that basis up to May 24th inelusive.
Motion carried without dissent ora roll call.

Communication read from Baar & Cunningham estimating the cost of a filtration

O'Herinsuggested that McGhee and Haylett go to Portland to inspect the new tank

Transfer Of Finds: Motion made by Haylett, seconded by Christensen and carried
$ that $54.56 be transferred from the Miscellaneous to the Treasurer's Leputy Hire fund

SHORT WAVE RADIO FOR POLICE was discussed and motion was made by Rayicaiet,Christensen,
conded by Haylett, that the recommendation of the Police Committee be accepted and that
e Police Dept. be equipped with the radio set at a cost of about $30.00; motion carried
aniinously on roll call.
CEMETERY: Notion made by Haylett, seconded by Christensen, that Cemetery Committee
instructed to draw up regulations covering the new plot in the cemetery and then in
njunction with the city attorney prepare an ordinance embodying such regulations; carried.
Flasher light at 10th & Lewis reported as inoperative and Light Committee was
formally authorized to have it repaired.
Clerk reported total licenses amounting to $5331.50 collected this year.
HAZZARD OF GRASS FIRES discussed and Haylett was authorized to arrange with the
re Chief to have weeds burned, motion to that effect being made by Burns, seconded by
ristensen and carried.
HORRIGAN CABIN LICE14SE: B. B. Horrigan having advised the clerk that he thought
cabins at 5th and Lewis should carry the same rate as the American Hotel, or 60 cents
room, instead of the regular tip1,00, city clerk was instructed that the $1.00 rate would
applicable and she could so advise Mr. Horrigan.
Bad condition of shacks back of the hound House at "A" St. discussed; referredto
Building Inspector to make inspection and have power to act.
