License to operate a dray was issnedxxpmxxx9idc to Doyall W. Nicholson, upon motion made by Christensen, seconded by Partch and carried. Street Committee stated that they would have a. new sewer ordinance for the next meeting of the council, while Haylett stated that he would n1 so bring in ordinance covering zoning of the city to supplement the building, ordinance recently adopted. Council proceeded to consider the proposed ordinance covering occupation taxes, No. 424: Motion made by Partch, seconded by Burns andxifxk carried, that Section 17, Cer Rooms, be changed to read 890.00 per year instead of tir20.00 per quarter for the first tab At this point, O'Herin came in. Motion made by Christensen, seconded by Haylett and car ied, that Section 51, ;fine Boxes, be made to read with yearly license fee, instead of quarterly. Further action on the ordinance was postponsed until the next meeting. Several business men were present, among them L. L. Stringham, who suggested that levies in the higher brackets wmxx should be reduced and those in lower braccets increased to offset. Others who addressed the council were Messrs. Scott, Downey, Shaffer, etc., but Scott and Doamey's supPestions were more along the line of added protection for local businessmen from outsiders, in which case they stated they would be willing to pay a higher rate. Matter of sewer to East Side was reconsidered upon renuest of O'Herin, but was again permitted to drop, when it developed that the East side school was not strong for the proposition. Due to re-establishment of precinct lines in the city, whereby two new precincts were established, expense of which was not foreseen at the time the budget for this year was prepared, the city clerk asked for authority to transfer 150.00 to cover additional registration books and supplies from "Miscellaneous" item in the budget to "Registration Expense'. Motion made by O'Herin, seconded by Partch and carried, that the clerk be authorized to do this. Forwarded to Sheet 557 CITY COUNCIL CHAS, c,?S !'agular S'ession _ March 4th, 1937. Tree* on Shoshone Street, which need trimming was discussed and motion was made by Haylett, seconded by Wirth and carried, that block of tree.iis on Shoshone St. be trimmed at a cost of 50 cents per tree, this expense to be taken from "Miscellnneous" fund. At this point Partch, left. ADJOURNMENT: Motion made by O'Herin, seconded by Christensen, that the meeting adjourn; motion carried. ROLL CALL: City council met in regular session with Mayor Hicks presiding and lloviing councilmen present: Burns, Christensen, Haylett, O'Herin and ; irth; absent roux and Partch. MINUTES OF REGULAR SESSIO14 HELD MARCH 4th were read and approved. FOLT,OWIVNG CLAIMS AGAINST CURRENT EXPENSE & Water Fund were read and motion made by Christ•�nsen, seconded by O'Herin and carried, that bills be paid; carried on roll call ithout dissent. Communication read from Mr. Norman Hill, advising that State Highwa as onsidering proposition in regard to a foot bridge at Front St. overxHRax Lewis St. Report of 'Rater Manager showed net gqraft of X99.11 for the previous month; sport of Police Judge read and showed tota, f N26.00 collected during February; report f Police Matron showed�7.50 collected in Dec., $1.00 in Jan. and nothing in Feb. sport of City Clark is typed form was furnished to each councilman. Lotion made byk firth, seconded by O'Herin and carried that reports be accepted and placed on file. Street Committee reported that matter of sunken walks had been taken care of. Matter of new committees was passed over until next meeting. -REGULAR ORDER OF BUSINESS was suspended upon motion made by O'Herin, seconded by irth and carried, so that council could devote its time to consideration of Ordinance No. 24 (Licenses). PARK BOARD APPOINTMENTS: Mayor Hicks announced that he had appointed Lir. LeRoy rown and Mr. Walter Leach to fill the vacancies on the Park Board. ORDNANCE No. 424: A petition submitted by Marolf 1:Iusic House and 33 others Ins read,, askin that rates in higher bra'rcets be lowered and that a maximum of x"25.00 and minimum of y:0� be established and petition was placed on file. Council proceeded ith consideration of Ordinance No. 424, section by section. Sectlonslio. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 were approved upop motion made by Vlirth, seconded "Herin and carried. Section No. 4: A substitute section was offered by the committee and motion made ylVirth, seconded by O'Herin and carried, that substitute be adopted; this was then approved upon motion made by Wirth, seconded by O'Herin and carried. (See later action aken on this section). Section No. 5: motion made by Wirth, seconded by Christensen and carried that action be apnroved. Sections 6 approved on motion made by Wirth, sec,)nded by Christensen, ection 7 approved on motion made by ''Nirth, seconded by Burns; Sections 9 and 9 apnroved n motions made by ;Wirth, seconded by O'Herin end :carried. Section 10 (Banks): Motion made by O'Herin, seconded by Christensen, that this action be apnroved• amendment offered by O'Herin, seconded by Burns, that ::350.00 be tricken out and 1'35.00 inserted in lieu thereof. Roll call ordered, showed Burns and 'Herin voting for the amendment;ate with Christensen and 'Hirth against and Haylett not sting. Motion to adjourn made by O'Herin, seconded by Bnrns, but was later withdrawn. all call again ordered end showed all councilmen voting for the amendment.
