CITY COUNCIL
REGULAU: SES.ION JUNE,20, 1935
_TOLL CALL: Council mat in regular session with Mayor LlcGee presiding and Councilmen
burns, uaylett, O'Herin, Partch and y/irth present.
:.:IivUTES: i'he minutes of the regular meeting on June 6th, and special sessions on June
14th and 19th Aare read and approved.
COMMUNICATIONS: Aletter fromthe Division of uunic pal Corporations advising that the c
amount of w200.00 be included in t_e 1936 budpet for examination of general accounts
was ordered filed.
BANK COUT&ACT: The following contract was read.
THIS AGREEIIE14T 'AITRESSETH: That the .lank of Commerce, a corporation of Panto,
-.'ashington, hereinafte_- called the Bank, he s agreed to, and does hereby agree to pay
interest on city deposits deposited in said .,ank in excess of the stun of one thousand
( 1000.00) dollars, at a. rate of not less t]Han one-half of 1 per cent on the average
daily balances, 'where such balances exceed the sum of ,JOOO.O0 of all minicipal funds
kept by the City treasurer in said ,lank, while sail Bank is acting as City depository
of the City of Pasco, and the said dank fn.rther agrees to secure any and all such
deposits int the manner and to the extent required by law.

SPORTS: later aanager McGhee's report for the month of May was read, showing a. pain of
y974.52
Amotion was made by Partch and seconded by0'Herin that the report of the ,later
Assotiation Convention held at Lewiston and attended by3ater Manager McGhee be placed
on file in the ',later office.
uaylett reported that the light fixtures for the broken light on Lewis Street
had been ordered, but had not been received to date. He also stated that he had
instructed the P. P. & L. Cc to fix the light at 4th Ave. and i41xon Street.
LICENSES: Applications for licenses were read from W. H. I.:oberly, 122 d Levvis Street,
for soft drinks and for card room; from A. c'. Sylvester for soft drinks and for card
room; from George 'T. Austin for soft drin,7s and for card room; and from iialph Smith
for soft drinks.
i.iotion made by Partch and seconded by O'Herin that all licenses be granted.
motion lost on roll call, burns, uaylett, and ,firth voting ''no"; Partch and v'Herin
"yes".
Haylett moved that all licenses applied for exceptinp these for card rooms
be granted. Seconded by ,;irth and carried on roll call; Partch voting against th,
motion.
Haylett then moved that the Police Department instruct all card rooms to
close on July lot, until Council grants license for the same. .iotion seconded by
O'Herin and carried unanimously on roll call.
INLAND EMPIRE ASSOCIATION: Iar A. LI. Johnson addressed the Council in favor of the Inland
Empire Association in regards to working the Snake and Columbia Rivers for power,
and asking a contribution from the City to help in getting the matter before Congress,
idotion made by Haylett and seconded by Wirth to contribute 4125.00 from the
Relief fund to the cause. idotion carried unanimously on roll call.
FIRE;IORKS: Mr. E. J. iviorton, of the Morton's Variety Store spoke concerning the instrudl
tions given by the Police Department, under order of the Mayor, placing June 29th as
the bepinninp date for the sale of fireworks. Be explained that he had already
placed his advertisement for the22nd, and asked that Council reconsider the matter.
O'Herin moved that the matter be left in the hands of the Police Committee
to investigate and make recomendation to the Layor. Motion seeonded by Pnrtch, and
carried.

OLL CALL: Council met in adjourned session with Mayor LUcGhee presiding and Councilmen
Burns, Haylett, Partch and ,firth present.
IDS: The bide forigravelinp of designated streets from :frown Sand and Gravel Co.
were read, beinp the only bids received, proposing to furnish 730 cubic yards of
gravel, and 1960 cubic yards, for the price of J.00 per cu. yd., truck spread as,
directed by the Cijiy Enpineer, and conforming in all respects to the State of dashing_
ton Department of Highways standard specifications for road and bridge construction.
Motion grade by ',7irth, seconded by Eaylett to accept the bids. Motion carried
on roll call
UNICATION: Aletter from the Department of Hiphways was read approving the resolution
for the City of Pasco Secondary Road Project Uvo. I. Plans and specifications and estim
mate of costs were also approved, providinp the City permit the contractor to take
advanta-e of the City's option on the oil, but not make it compulsory.
GUBiRD: Iverson Brownell being present, presented an application for the position of
Life Guard at the River Beach, supgesting the period of July and August and a salary
of .i?110.00 per month, the City subscribing X50.00 for the two months period, the rest
being raised by subscroptions from different organizations. The application was ra_
ferred to the Fire Committee.
-r C,, Idayor McGee spoke in behalf of the Active Club, askinp for control of all
concessions during the Kittyball. Tonnriament on July 4th, proceeds todefray expenses of
the tournament. Motion made by`Partch and seconded by Haylett that the Active Club
Be given concessions at all parks in the city limits, and beach, subject to approval
of toe chairman of the park board, and the chief of the fire department. Motion
carried.
CENSES: Motion made by Sirth and seconded by Haylett that a license for the year endi.,
inp June 30, 1936 be granted to N. H. and W. T. Jackson for drayinp. U:otion carried.
Motion made by Wirth and seconded by Partch that licenses be granted to
L. Pyles for soft drinks and for restaurant for the year ending June 30, 1956. Motion
carried.
