ROLL CALL: City council met in regular session with following members present:
Burns, Haylett, Partchand girth; absent Anderson, O'Herin, Skinnell and 11ayor McGee.
In the absence of the mayor and mayor pro tem, Partch was elected as mayor pro tem
upon motion made by Wirth, seconded by Burns and carried.

STOKER: Partch made a. report rega.rdinry a stoker to be installed, recommending
for the committee that a ?i.sdon stoker, including low pressure control, at a total cost of
4'315.00, be installed in the city hall. Motion then made by Wirth, seconded by Burns
and carried without dissent on roll call, that a. Iiisdon Stoker be installed for ten days
trial, subject to the approval of, the committee, at a price of �1'p315.00 complete, including
the low pressure water control, so-ze of stoker to be No. 2 Underfeed.
APPLICATION OF I. S. VAUGHN for a restaurant license was not approved by the
Police Committee and motion was made by Witth, seconded by Burns, and carried, that the
license application be rejected and money returned to h1r. Vaughn. (Warrantll275 covers)
Matter of having the Police Dept. telephone connected -with one of the other
city offices, so that the telephone can be answered when the chief is out, was discussed
and was referred to the Police Committee.
W. B. BARITES CLAID4 FOR ti>90.00 back pay for months of June, July & September,
was reported on favorably by Water Committee and motion was made by Haylett, seconded by
Furth and carried on roll call, that the claim be allowed. (1,11arrant 2284 covers)
Regarding the transit, chains and other city property loaned to IT. II. Coli ier
of Casey, the city clerk was instructed to write to Francis Jones, of ylallula., and
advise him, that the city would expect the instruments to be returned by the 15th of Oct.
CITY ELECTION. Motion made by Haylett, seconded by Wirth end carried, that
list of applicants for positions of city election boards be -referred to the County Election
Board. City Clerk was also instructed upon motion made by Haylett, seconded by Wirth and
carried, to advise the County Election Board, positions to be filled at the City Primary
Election and the names of candidates.

WARRANT 11274 Issued.
MATTER OF SLEEPING QUARTERS FOR TRANSIENTS ARRIVING ON Night trains was discussed
and motion was made by Ha,ylett, seconded by Burns, that this be referred to the City
Attorney for handling; motion carried.
Letter from the Bank of Commerce offeting ;;5000. of School District No.l,
Mulnoma.h County, Portland and A)2500. of bonds of Union High School, District No. 1,
Benton County, as security for city funds, wa.s.referred to the Finance Committee.
In the matter of broken light pole at 4th & Lewis St., the city attorney reported
that he ha.d written to 1,,1r. Lamson at Kennewick and had been advised that Tir. Lamson—
would see him shortly.
