CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS
Account of no quorum meeting was adjourned anti 8 PM, Friday, Feb. 23rd.

ADJOURNED SESSION _ February 23rd, 1934.
ROLL CALL: City council met in adjourned session with Mayor MeG ee presiding and
following councilmen present: Burns, Haylett, O'Herin and Wirth; aheentees were
Anderson, Partch and Skinnell.
MINUTES OF MEETINGD OF Feb. 6th and 9th were read and approved.
CLAIM AGAINST CURRENT EXPENSE OF W. I. WARREN for hauling gravel was ordered paid
upon motion made by Haylett, seconded by O'He.rin and carried without dissent on roll call.

Communication read from General Petroleum Corpn. asking regarding bidding on gaso]i ne
requirements and clerk was instructed to furnish information as to quantities required.
Communication read from Attorney General's office regarding operation of State
Liquor Bill.
Communication read from Assn. Of Washington Cities regarding services by that
organization and was ordered filed.
LICENSE APPLICATION READ FROM W. F. CHUTE for a direct dealer's linense and
was granted upon motion made by O'Herin, seconded by Burns and carried.
Report of Finance Committee rdgarding salaries for 1934 was made and Messrs.
O'Herin and Wirth suggested that the 10 per cent cut made over a year ago be given back
to city employes, five per cent to be given immediately and an additional five per cent
on July lst. An increase of this kind would increase the pay rolls by $468.39 for
current expense iterns and $226.50 for the Water Dept. City Attorney O'Brien stated
however, in an informal opinion, that he did not believe salaries could be raised due to
the fact that the budget adopted for 1934 set a limit on amount which could be expended.
Chairman O'Hetin of the committee, then stated they wanted to have the matter referred
back to the committee for further consideration.
BILL OF COLUMBIA HARDWARE COMPANY FOR TOOLS FURNISHED C.W.A.workers was
discussed and finally ordered paid upon motion made by Wirth, seconded by Burns and
carried on roll call. (Warrant No.10861 issued)
Report of the City 81erk for January expenditures and receipts was passed around
Report of the Water Manager showing a net profit for the previous month of $69.75 was read
and ordered filed.
LICENSE REFUNDS account operation of the state law covering beer and wines
effective March 24th, were discussed and it was informally deciddd that dealers holding
licenses should file their claims for refunds on regular voucher forms for approval
by the council. '
Matter of granting a license to the American Legion or similar organization
for sponsoring a carnival was discussed but no definite action was taken.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion made by O'Herin, seconded by Burns that meeting adjourn
was carried.
