The Claim of Ralph Howton (listed above as Warrant 10849) was ordered paid upon motion made by Wirth, seconded by Partch and carried on roll call 5 to 1, Anderson voting "No". LICENSE APPLICATIONS WERE: READ FROM FOLLOWING and granted upon motion made by Partch, seconded by Wirth and carried: Mrs. L. Fallon of West Hotel; W. P. Godfrey of Olympic Rooms; A. F. Sylvester as direct dealer. Another communication from Peter Elockner relative to his owning bonds in L.I.D. #24, was read and referred to the City Attorney upon motion :rade by Wirth, seconded by Anderson and carried. GOLF COURSE ACQUIRED: The following resolution was read and adopted upon motion made by Wirth, seconded by O'Herin and carried without dissent: "Whereas, it has been proposed that the Franklin County Irrigation District #1 deed to the City of Pasco, the following described land, to -wit: "The North half of the North half of the Southwest quarter (B12N-W44; the Southeast quarter of the Northwest quarter (SE4NW4) the East half Northwest quarter of the Northwest �uarter'(E2NW4NW4); the South Half of the Northeast quarter of the Northwest quarter SOE4NW4; the Northwest quarter of the Northeast quarter of the Northwest quarter (NW4SW4NW4); tkeXNaatkiwsstx$aextarxnfx:tkffxNxxtkvmatx4xaxtnx South Half of the Southwest quarter of the Northwest quarter (SRW4NW4); the Northeast quarter of the Southwest quarter of the Northwest quarter (NE4SW4NW4); the West half of the Northeast quarter M,,, -VE -140; and all that part of the Northeast quarter of the Northeast quarter (NE -,INE -1) lying West and South of the State highway, all in section Thirty Four (34) of Township Nine (9) North Range 30 (EWM) Franklin County, Washington, "for a park and playground purposes. "NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, that if the said Irrigation District #1 shall, without cost to the City, deed and convey the said above described land to the said city, the City of Pasco will accept the same for park and playground purposes and the said Irrigation District be and in hereby requested to convey the said real estate to the City of Pasco for such purpose". A deed covering above land was received and ordered filed. f -3A RESOLUTION PROTESTING AGAINST ANY CHANGE OF THE STATE HIGHWAY THRU THE CITY was read and adopted on motion made by O'Herin and seconded by Anderson. Resolution was as .. -A _,A • Adjour.ned_Seccion February 9th, 1934 CONTINUED. follows: "BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF PASCO: That the City Council does hereby pro- test against any plans or proposals to so change the State Highways leading into or through Pasco in such a manner or way as to diver the traffic thereon away from the business section of said City and towards the outskirts thefeof and does hereby expressly approve the proposal to build an underground or overhead crossing at_the intersection of Lewis Street and the Right of Way of"the Northern Pacific Railway Company and pledges to the State highway Department, its assistance therein in any way in which it may be found that it can be of assistance and its full co-operation in putting such a plan into effect." CLAIM OF COLUMBIA Hardware Co., amount $5.80, for tools which had been furnished.to C. W. A. workers, and which bill. had been referred to the Committee on Public Property & Docks, was still in the hands of the committee, Chairman Anderson advising the council that they were not yet ready to report. - — GASOLINE CONTRACTS: The clerk advised the council that present contracts for gasoline and oil will expire next month, one with the Union Oil Co. March 17th and one with the Standard Oil Co. on 1.4arch.14th. Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for supplying gasoline for one year, bids to be filed with the clerk by 8 PM, March 6th, upon motion made by Burns, seconded by Partch and carried. APPOINTIENTS BY MAYOR PLIC GEE: The Mayor announced that he had appointed Councilman O'Herin as the city's representative on the Welfare Board; motion made by Wirth, secD.nded by Anderson and carried that appointment be confirmed. Mrs. W. F. Chute was appointed to succeed herself on the Park Board and the appointment was confirmed upon motion made by Partch, seconded by Anderson and carried. .Miss Alma Olson was appointed to succeed herself.on the Library Board for term expiring Dec. 31st, 1938; appointment was confirmed upon motion made by Wirth, seconded by O'Herin and carried. PRUNING OF TREES WAS DISCUSSED and resulted in a motion made by Burns, seconded by O'Herin, and carried, that Mr. Ingham, the county agent, be asked to supervise the trimming of -trees. C.W.A.P;OJECTS: Councilman O'Herin brought up the matter projects, listing the following:projects which he asked the council to him in the order of their importance: Gravel and cinders for Third Street. Gravel for Ninth St. to the swimming begch. Irrigation pipes -and grading of cemetery. Extension of fourth Street from the depot to Ains.iorth. Improving the streets from 4t1i & A East to Main, thence North Improve Ainsworth Ave. from ,'lest city limits to the railroad At the request of Councilman Partch and others, the widening'of Tenth A and C Streets by eliminating the parking strips and moving back the eluded as one of the important projects. All but the Ainsworth Ave. given preferred attention, altho a project for Ainsworth could also be order of the projects was tentatively fixed as follows: 1st: Gravel for Third St. 2nd: Gravel for Ninth St. 3rd: Work at cemetery 4th: Widening.Tenth St. 5th: Improve A ST. East of 4th & Main St. 6th: Extension of Fourth St. 7th: Ainsworth Ave. improvement. of proposed C.W.A: consider with to Lewis. crossing. Street between curb, was in_ work were to be submitted.
