CHAIZER.
June 20th,
ROLL CALL; City Council met in regular session with Mayor McGee , presiding and following
councilmen present Anderson, Burns, Haylett, O'Herin, Partch, and 7irth; Absent Skinnell.
MINUTES OF MEETINGS, held June 6th and 9th, were read and approved.
CLAIMS:Following claims were read and motion was made by Anderson,seconded by Partch,
that bills be paid and carried on roll call.

ADDITIONAL V[A=R BILLS: In connection with Special Water Committee; trip to Pullman,
Lewiston and Dayton, following expenses were had and motion was made by O'Herin, seconded by
Anderson and carried on roll call that following be paid;

R EP.' I RING LIGHT STANDARD: Idayor U. R. I.,IcGee, informed the city council that he had
personally paid Frank G. Schien of Yakima X10.00 for repairing litht standard in front of
Hull's jewelry store, upon request of purchasing agent, O'Herin seconded by Anderson, moved
the mayor be reimbursed $10.00 spent for these repairs; carried on roll call.Warrant N0.10507
REPORT FROM FINANCE COIZ1ITTEE: Ivlr. O'Herin reported for finance Committee that the Bank
of Commerce, advised him that they would put up ?5000.00 of Franklin County school warrants as
additional collateral protecting city funds. Motion made by Anderson, seconded by Burns and
carried that report be accepted.
REPORT FROM WATER CO1l1:,IITTEE: Nater committee reported, on their trip to Pullman, Dayton,
: & Lewiston, and a motion was later made by O'Herin, seconded by Anderson, & carried unanimously
on roll ca13'that the special committee together with the mayor enter into contract with a
Civil Engineer to make preliminary survey and do necessary engineering work on the proposed
filtration plant, such contract to be submitted to the council for their approval.
REPORT OF CLERK: Report of Clerk in typewritten form passed to each councilman.
REPORT OF NATrR lLkNAGER: Repott of water manager was read showing net profit of . 639.63
for preceeding month and was ordered filed.
LIGHT ON NIXON STREET, was moved to 5th, and park streets, 2esidents now went light reply
ced at Nixon and Arthur Sts., Motion made by Wirth seconded by Partch that matter be referred
to the Licht and '.Water Committee, with power to act.
LIGHT STANDARDS ST UCK: A number of -.light standards have been struck recently b:v reckless
drivers and motion -u,.,as made by O'Herin seconded by Haylett that clerk be instructed to write
parties breaking poles and ask them to Compensate the city; motion carried.
ADJOURND:IENT: Upon motion by Burn:, secolided by 'Wirth and carried. that meeting adjourn to

seconded by OTHerin, that license be granted; carried.

WATEIR FILTRATION PLANT ENGINEER TO BE HIRI�D: Tetters were received from four of five
engineering firms who had been written and asked to submit a contract covering preliminary enCineer_
ing viork. Only two submitted proposals, these being; Baar & Cunningham and Stevens & Koon of
Portland'and both proposed to do preliminary work for �400.00 and if Liven final work, would charge
5% zof the cost of the plant, however h1r. 3. E. Zoon called attention in'a letter to the verbal
proposition he had previously made which was that they would charge "200.00 for preliminary work
if given the entire engineering work; after the proposed construction of the plant had approved
by the voters and the government finance corporation.*They would charge 5% but not to exceed
$1500.00, for doing ,).,ll engineering work and the 4200.00 paid for doing preliminary work would be
deducted from the 31500.00, covering total enr_ineering cost.
11otion finally made by Partch, seconded by O'Herin, that the city accept the verbal proposal
of R. ;,. moon and that the city attorney be instructed to draw up a contract to cover; motion
carried unanimously. The I,la.yor was authorized to sign the contract, informal authority being
given him by members of the council.
Suggestion was made that special water committee be. enlarged and Burns made a motion, which
failed of a second, that committee be enlarged to include all members of the council. O'Herin then
offered a substitute motion, seconded by Skinnel.l and carried, thtt Partch and Anderson be added to t
the committee.
