March 9th, 1933 The :natter of Police IIa.tron's sa.lfiry taken up, motion was made by IYirth, seconded by Burns that the matron's pay be rduced from X3.00 to $2.00 per night: carried. Water Manager 1-IcGhee advised the council thatthe second chlorinator which the N. P. had loaned the city, had been repaired and installed. City Treasurer Pratt brought mp the matter of 10% penalty tp be assessed on water , bills, stating that the former treasurer had not collected it and that he wanted to know whether the council intended to enforce the penalty or discontinue it; matter referred•to the Pater Committee for consideration and recommendation. MATTER OF CHARGING HALF THE TREASURER'S SALARY TO WATER DEPT. AND HALF TO.CURREVT EXPENSE FUND WAS REFERRED TO THE FINANCE C0101ITTEE FOR CONSIDERATION. MANAGER R. IIELLIS OF `SHE STANDARD OIL CO. submitted a contract to the city proposing to furnish gasoline for one year at a maximum price of 14.4 cents per gall -on. As the estimated requirements of he city will be about 3000 gallons, this would bring total amount under 500.00 and upon motion made by Ha.�lett, sedonded by'Anderson, the proposed contract of the Standard Oil,Co. was accepted and the mayor was authorized to sign it; motion passed unanimously. It was understood, however, that if other oil companies submitted a similar contract at the above price, such contracts would also be given proper consideration. The request of the railroad company that a stop sign be placed on where it enters Lewis, was referred to the Street and alley Committee with power o act. Matter of excessive whistling by locomotive engineers coming into the city was brought up and I.1r. Anderson agreed to speak to Asst . Supt. Colby regarding the matter. The matter of repairing the roof of the city hall was referred th the Building Committee. The request made by Mr. Horrigan regarding a poolhall for colored men was discussed and motion was, ma.de by Burns, seconded by 'girth thatthe request of Mr. Horrigan be turned down: motion carried unanimously. adjournment: motion made by Haylett seconded by Anderson and carried that council adjourn.
