Communications read'fr.om.Tinling & Powell, Spokane, asking for a. -chance to bid
on proposed electric -plant-; a1s6` lj'ter .from Washington I:4unicipal League relative to
meeting'to be"hald Sept. 16th; ordered filed.
Communication to`TvIAlyor'McGee from '7lashin6ton 1otor'Coach Co. regb.rding Lewis St.
crossing was read, u8king that its condition be improved; Anderson advised the
council- that he understood that Supt. Colby of the NP and the State .i ighwa.y Dept.
were conferring regarding the crossing.
BIDS FOR'GASOLINE VERE OP:c.NED; The Sheel Oil Co. and Union Oil Co. quoted a
maximum of 201 cents per gallon, tank wagon prices to govern, while the Standard Oil
Co.'quoted tdnk wagon prices. Motion m de by Wirth, seconded by Anderson, that 0.11
bids be rejected; carried unanimously.
BIDS VERE OPENED FOR COAL and motion was made by Wirth, seconded by Partch, that
the city accept the bid of the Juvenal Fuel & Ice Co., for a ca.r of Roslyn mine run
coal, at 17.71 per ton, delivered; motion carried on roll call. Motion then.m;:de
by •;'girth, seconded by O'Herin, that matter of correct weights of coal be left in the
hands of the purchasing, agent; motion carried.
SALARIES OF MATER HANAGE,R & SEXTON AT CEMETERY, both of whom are sick, were
discussed. Nothing definite done about sexton's salary.
ACTING A!IANAGw,R OF WATER DEPT. APPOINTED: Motion was made by O'Herin,
seconded by Anderson, that D. W. McGhee be appointed as Acting Manager of -t'he Water
Dept., with a salary of ;x150.00 per month, effective September 16th, and, that the
salary of the Water Ivianager will. be discontinued until farther fiction by the
council; motion carried on roll call without dissent.
ADJOURNME14T: Motion made by O'Herin, seconded.by Anderson, that meeting
adjourn until the next regul@.r meeting; carried.
