ROLL CALL: The city council met in regular session with I:4ayor 11 cGee
presiding and all members but Haylett being present, Haylett coming in later.
MINUTES OF T.IEETINGS HELD July 5th, 8th and 19th were read and approved.
CLAIIrIS AGAINST THE WATER FUND WERE READ AS FOLLOWS and motion was made by
Wirth, seconded by Anderson, that bills be allowed and warrants be,drawn for the same;
carried without dissent on roll call:

TiIrs.Hodge, cafe; A.F.Sylvester for soft drinks, pool and card room; Becks' Grocery
for soft drinks. Motion made by Anderson, seconded by Partch, that licenses be granted;
motion carried without dissent.
COAL FOR CITY: Clerk was instructed to advertise for one car of coal to be
delivered about Oct. lst, bids to be in at next meeting, Aug. 16th.
Communication read from 1,!1ayor Dore, Seattle, relative to the city joining
Seattle and others in asking Governor Hartley to secure money from Deconstruction
Finance Corporation for relief work. Referred to City Attorney for study and answer.
Burns called attention to desireability of securing flour for The Billett
while it was cheap. Motion made by Wirth, seconded by Partch, that .Burns be authorized
to arrange for securing ten barrels of flour either from the Red Cross, or by purchase
if necessary; motion carried.
Mayor 11cGee informed the council that he had instructed the Chief of Police to
advise Mrs. Bettie Walters to see about securing a license for a restaurant before she
went ahead with constructing a wooden building 14'x36' in the fire limit zone and that
Mrs. Salters had asked that the city reimburse her for money she h,td spent. No action
taken.
Mr. Haylett came in and 1'Ir. Partch was excused at this point.
Fire Chief Pangle called attention to hazards created by vacant buildings with
open fronts, especially the Gavin Building on 4th St. No further action taken.
Motion made by Hp.ylett, seconded by O'Herin, that City Clerk be instructed to
write 1:Ir. O'Rourke, ereneer on new post office, that the city would permit him to erect
the new light pole the city had available on the Third atreet side of building, to put
down a new sidewalk if deemed advisable and to repair curb adhere necessary.11otion carried.

adjourn; motion carried.
