Clerk reportOethat notice has been sent by registered mail to the N. W. Natural Gas Corp. asking them to start work under provisions of their franchise and that return receipt had been received, but that as yet no reply had been made by the gas company. CARE OF TRANSIENTS: Mayor llcGee stated that a Mr. Skelton of the Helping Hand Mission, galla liall.a., had asked for help in establishing a mission here and that they would start a kitchen for feeding.transients. Rev. W. A. Sprague, who was present, stated that the Community Chest Committee would not endorse this proposition, as they figured that the men who wanted to handle the matter were not sufficiently train to make,a success of it, and sug- gested that the matter be handled by a local committee. Motion made by O'Herin, seconded by Skinnell, that the Mayor appoint a special committee to investigate the possibility of securing a camping ground for transients for the summer, this committee to report at the next meeting; motion carried and the Mayor appointed Councilmen Burns, Haylett and O'Herin as the committee. Proposition of raisin; dray licenses to $25.00 per year was dismissed for the time being, as some licenses at the present figure (92.00) had already been granted. ADJOURNMENT: I. -lotion made by Skinnell, seconded by O'Herin, that meeting adjourn until Friday night for the purpose of disposing of any matter which would be brought before them, including matter of care of transients; motion carried. ROLL CALL: Pursuant to agreement, the city council met in adjourned session with dayor TVIcGee presiding and following councilmen present: Anderson, Burns, Haylett, O'Herin, Skinnell and Wirth; absent Partch. CALIPING GROUND FOR TRAivSIENTS: Special committee reported on the matter of location of camp for transients, that they thought the concrete building opposite the freight depot would be a good place and that they thought it could be secured reasol}ably. Motion made by O'Herin, seconded by Haylett, that the Purchasing Agent be instructed to negotiate for the purchase of the building across the street from the h.P.r'reight Office ,for the best price possible, reporting his activities back to the council; carried unanimously. LICENSER APPLICATIOI13 `07ERE READ FROM FOLLOWING: Soft drinks: Regina stand:�and E. B. Castleman; dray, A. Ochse; motion made by O'Herin, seconded by Anderson, that the licenses be granted; carried`unanimously, on roll call. FIRE HYDRANT AT 5th & C Streets: Water & Fire Committee reported against in- stalling a hydrant at 5th & C Streets as petitioned for by R. D. Reardon and others; motion made by O'Herin, seconded by Anderson, that the report of the committee be occepted. Messrs. Anderson and Skinnell were excused.
