GAS FRANCHISE TO N. W. NATURAL GAS CO.: GAS COMPANY TO BE ASKED TO BEGIN WORK;
The original franchise of the N. W. Natural Gas Co. provided that work was to be com-
pleted on their distribution system by Sept. 4th, 1931; they were granted an extension
of six months in which to begin work and an additional year in which to complete same,
making a.total extension of 18 months; after the expiration of the six months period,
the city council has the right to serve a demand on the Gas Company, that they begin work
under provisions of their nriginal franchise within ninety days after service of such
demand; failure on part of Gas Company to comply with the demand to begin work would
cause the franchise to become void. After discussion by members of the council, a
motion was made by Haylett, seconded by Partch, that notice be served on the north-
western Natural Gas Company, that they must commence work under provisions of the
ordinance, or same will be cancelled. Motion carried without dissent and City Attorney
