ROLL CALL: City council met in adjourned session with Mayor McGee presiding and following councilmen present: Burns, Haylett, Skinnell and firth; absent were Anderson, O'Herin and Pa.rtch. MINUTES OF REGULAR"SESSION HELD APRIL 5th were read and approved. Communication read from M. D. Dysart relative to securing permission to erect a root beer stand back of Beck.'s service station. Motion made by Haylett, seconded by Skinnell and carried, that clerk answer Mr. Dysart and advise him that it will be OK for him to put up the structure and'tear it down at the end of the season, but that he should also submit license application covering the soft drink stand. CLAIi:iS: Foll.owiang claims against Current .expense and Water funds were read and motion was made by Wirth, seconded by Skinnell that the bills be paid and warrants be issued for the same; carried unanimously on roll call: CURRENT EXPENSE: 9745 h• B. Co., power for pumps _ _ 307.58 900.83 APPLICATIONS FOR DRAY LICENSES IWERE READ FROM FOLLOWING: Chauncey Harper, C. A. Kanouse and J. S. Johns; motion made by Haylett, seconded by Wirth that the licenses be granted; carried unanimously. COMMUNICATION REGARD F1101.1 C. S. DAVIS relative to residents on South side of Columbia St.hetween 5th and 6th Streets, throwing refuse on vacant lots he was interested in behind their property and asking that the city compel these people to desist; referred to Street Committee. PROPOSED ORDINANCE REGARDING GRAVES 1_6, RJ=xk Lot 12, in cemetery, to be. set aside for monument for A. P. Gray: Street Committee thru Haylett, recommended that the Gray family be permitted to buy the lots, if they so desired, the same as anyone else. Motion then made by Skinnell, seconded by Haylett, that the recommendation of the Street Committee be accepted and that the City Clerk be instructed to write Mrs. Gray a nice letter along those lines; motion carried. Report of Police Judge read and ordered filed; report of water manager read and ordered filed. Communication read from City Attorney relative to invitation extended to the city to join the 01ashington Municipal League, advising that the city not join at this time on account of the cost, but suggesting that the city aald the league in their constructive work, as it was a worthwhile proposition. Mayor McGee reappointed C. Putnam as a member of the library board for five year period beginning Jan. 1st, 1932. Motion made by Wirth, seconded by Haylett, and carried, that the appointment be confirmed. CEMETERY MATTERS_ GRAVES NOT PAID FOR, :STC. The matter of graves at the cemetery was discussed, it being thought that the city had a considerable amount of money still. due for graves sold and not paid for. It was suggested that the com- mittee work with the city treasurer$- I-fr. McFarland and get the records straightened up. Motion made by Skinnell, seconded by ;'girth, that the matter be referred to the committee on cemetery for investigation and report as soon as possible. Clerk asked wh ether dog licenses would be collected this year and was instruct- ed to secure tags and receipt blanks. Matter of cleaning up streets and alleys discussed and it was decided to leave matter of enforcing present ordinance, which provides a fine of N5. to $50. up to mayor and Street Committee. Burns asked for authority to construct a fence around material which city would have on its property to prevent its being stolen and the matter was left in his hands; the matter of traffic paint was also left in the hands of the purchasing agent.
