FIRE-HAZARDS:Matter of fire hazards was discussed, it being pointed out that
back of the -Hotel-Pasoo;- was "an especially bad point.- ' City Attorney"suggested'-that '*the J
people should "'be. -compelled to abey the present ordinance and that they should be asked to
provide incinerators.
OLD COLMTBIA WAREHOUSE BUILDING. DAriger of old'wa.rehouse-of''the Coluinb`ia*
River TrA•nsfer Co* 5th Street South of'Columbia was discussed, it being pointed out
that during the severe wind storm recently, pieces of sheet iron were blown off from it
endangering 'pdb8ers_by.._ ' Motion made by PArtch, seconded by Anderson, that the ;
City"'Couhcil"cohbiders the building A serious hazard and that the city attorney be
instriicted- to write to the owners, ' to either put the building in a safe condition or
have it torn down; motion carried.
At this point Councilman P€?rtch was excused.
SEWER EQUIPMENT: Matter of purchasing sewer eauipment was discussed and
motion was made by O'Herin, seconded by Haylett, that the Purchasing Agent be instructed
to purchase an expanding root cutter, with necessary enuipme.nt from the Expanding
Sewer Machine Co., Nappanee, Indian&ineldding, jacks .a.nd sewer rods; motion carried
wi thoitt dissent.
Democrats and Republicans wanted the use of the city hall for meetings
on Friday and Tuesday of next week and motion was made by Haylett, seconded by Anderson,
that they be permitted to use it; motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion made by Haylett, seconded by G'Herin, that
meeting adjourn; motion carried.
