A motion was then made by Haylett, seconded by Burns, that the City
Attorney be instructed to prepare an ordinance, fixing salaries in accordance
with the above figures, such revised salaries to be effective February 1st. Roll
call showed the following vote on this motion: Ayes, Burns, Haylett and Wirth.;
Noes, Meyer; motion declared carried.
The matter of watering; trees in parking strips by the ',later Dept.
was referred to the Street & Alley Committee for report at the next meeting.
ADJOUZNHENT: 11otion made by firth, seconded by Burns, that the meeting
adjourn; motion carried.

Regular session on January 19th was adjourned until January 22nd account no
quorum being present; meeting on January 22nd was postponed account no quorum and
those present decided to postpone meeting until the next regular session on Feb. 2nd.

DOLL CALL: City council met in regular session with T,Iayor I.TcGee presiding
and following members present: Burns, Haylett, 1ileyer, Skinnell and IdVirth; absentees
were Anderson and Pa.rtch.
MINUTES OF ITEETINGS ON January 5th, January 7th, January 19th and
January 22nd were read and approved.
LICENSE APPLICATIOIJ FROI:T TOP;I KATAYAMA for a card room license was read;
motion made by Mirth, seconded by Burns, that the license be granted ?and motion
declared carried unanimously.
LETTER OF PROTEST WRITTEN BY THE Pt" -SCO GUN CLUB ;VAS read, relative to
action of the city council at their previous meeting in cutting off the budgeted
appropriation of x;600.00 made for a watering system in river Park. ;Iot6on made.
by ':firth, seconded by Skinnell, that the city clerk be instructed to write to
the gun club and explain the financial condition of the city; motion carried.
CLAIIT OF E. I`l. LAIIDT,. amounting to $50.00 for 010,000.00 bond for the
city treasurer, was referred to the Claims Committee for investigation as Warrant No.
8941, amount ?„9.5.00, covered premium for a bond for former treasurer (Mrs. Rutherford)
for a two year term and unearned portion of this premium should be applied on new
bond for present treasurer.

Light Committee (thru Haylett) reported that they were not yet. -ready to make a

Letter read from N. P. Ry. enclosing permit No.50110 to cross tracks with new ±fix
10" C.I.pipe; motion made by Meyer, seconded by ;'firth, that the mayor and clerk be authorized
to sign the permits.
Report of Street Commissioner showing work done by men from Lillett was read.
Report of :later Manager read, sho�ainh lost of ~-284.34 for peevious month, after
paying operating expenses and placing X1570. in sinking fund.

ORDINANCE No. 396, granting additional 25 year franchise to Pacific Telephone &
Telegraph Co., was read; motion made by Ileyer, seconded by *,g irth, that the ordinance be
declared to have had its first reading; carried without dissent on roll call.

to investigate the franchise and report back to the council; carried and mayor appointed
Skinnell, Meyer, Haylett, 'Wirth ni.nd Burns.
Communication read from Geo. Washington Mlemorial Bridge Assn., inviting all
to attend the bridge ,openingFeb. 22nd; noidaction taken.
ORDINANCE NO. 397, providing cut in rates of pay of city employes paid out
of Current expense Fund was read; motion made by Wirth, seconded by Haylett, thatxmotzax
ordinance be declared to have had its first reading; roll call ordered and showed follow-
ing: Ayes, Burns, Haylett and Viirth; Noes, Meyer and Skinnell.
Motion made by rlirth, seconded by Haylett, that Ordinance lio. 397 be given its
second reading by title; 11Ieyer stated that if any further action was taken he wanted to be
recorded as "absent", as entire council should act on the ordinance and not three out of
seven; TvIeyer left the council chamber and was accompanied by Skinnell, so that when
roll call was ordered, a quorum was not present. Skinnell later returned.
Water Manager was authorized to purchase about 320 ft. of 4" C.I.pipe in connection
with relaying pipe thi._ spring, upon motion made.by Wirth, seconded by Haylett and carried
without 'dissent on roll call.
