ROLL CALL: City Council met in adjourned session with Mayor McGee presiding and following councilmen present: Burns, Haylett, Taleyer, Partch, Skinnell and ,'firth; absent Anderson. MINUTES OF SESSIONS HELD DECEIV:IBER 15th, 17th and 29th were read and approved. CURRENT EXPENSE CLAIMS: Following bills against Current Expense fund were read and motion was made by, Wirth, seconded by Partch, that the bills be paid; roll call showed all voting for the motion. ,VARRANT : 9576 Pasco Plbg. & Htg. Co., repairs at library 9577 City Treasurer, hydrant rental, water, etc. _ 9578 Maud Heater, salary as police matron 9579 Pasco Hardware Co., material for Street Dept. _ 9580 Pasco Machine Co., equipment for sewers _ 9581 City Cafe, meals for prisoners and transients _ 9582 The American City Magazine, subscriptions for councilmen,etc. 9583 D. G. Edge, payment being made by American Automobile Co. Communication read from Roy 0. Eaton, submitting price of $1.00 each for headboards; upon motion made by ;firth and seconded by Skinnell, matter of headboards was referred to Street & Alley Committee with power to act. LICENSE APPLICATIONS WERE READ FROT41 FOLLOWING FOR CARD ROOM LICENSES: A. F. Sylvester, 4 tables; W. F. Chute, 3 "tab -les;' W. H. Moberly, 3 tables; Geo. Austin Jr., 4 tables. Motion made by Skinnell, seconded by Wirth, that the licenses be granted; carried without dissent on roll call. Matter of difference between $1004. and $839. to be received from Franklin County Road & Bridge Fund, was referred to the Finance Committee for investigation, as first figure was amount which county treasurer's office stated was due the city, while the city received about $839.00. Street Committee reported that nothing had been done in regard to -the building being constructed at the highway bridge service station on 10th St., where service station owner was constructting a building for tearing down wornout cars. Street Committee reported that the six lots which the city wanted opposite the freight depot would be put up for sale by the county at a price of about $5.00 each; motion made by Wirth, seconded by Partch, that the Street Committee be empowered to act further in the matter: motion carried. NEW FIRE HOSE BOUGHT: Contract was submitted by the Howard Cooper Corporation for 200 ft. of 2�" fire hose at $1.20 per ft. and motion was made by Partch, seconded by Haylett that the hose be purchased and mayor be authorized to sign the contract; carried. Motion made by Partch, seconded by Burns, that Ordinance No.. 395 be read by title as its second reading; carried unanimously on roll call. Ordinance then read by tital and motion was made by Haylett, seconded by Skinnell, that Ordinance No. .395 be declared to have had its second reading; carried without dissent on roll call. LIGHT GLOBES: A contract submitted by the National Lamp Works, Sunbeam Division, covering the purchase of 9'300.00 worth of light globes per year, was discussed and referred to the Light & Water Committee for further investigation and report. AT THIS POINT COUNCILI�'N PARTCH AND SKINNELL WERE EXCUSED. REDUCTIONS IN BUDGET ALLOWANCES: Haylett for the Finance Committee made a report asking that the following amounts be cut from the 1932 budget: City Hall, $100. from maintance & operation and $60. from B1dg.Supervisor's salary; Clerk: $140. from Supplies & Mtice.; 5x50. from election Officers salaries. Attorney: $60.00 office help. Police Dept.: Cut Chief's salary :;190.; patrolman $160.; maintenance �}100.; meals for prisoners s?100.; meal:. for transients`$600.; operation of pound $50.; traffic paint $50.00; salary extra police $400. Police Judge: Judge's.salary, $180.; stationery & supplies ti1?15. Fire Dept.: salaries 0200.; salary Asst.Chief $60.; maintenance •;100. Street Dept.: Salary Street Commissioner $'300.; salary helper $300.; labor watering trees, etc. $300.; Street Cleaner 4360.; gas and oil for trucks w125.; tools $75.; tractor & trucks repairs $150.00; material & supplies $100. Sewer Dept. Labor cut „250.00 Parks Dept. Cut outlay items of "'490. and X120. for River Park; cut caretali-er at city park $200.; supplies 050.; fertilizer N50.; lawn mower $250.; extension of water $250. Motion then made by Haylett, seconded by Wirth, that the above items in the current expense budget be cut in accordance with recommendations of the committee. Roll call showed as voting for the motion Burns, Haylett and Wirth; Meyer refused to vote statim that he was not yet ready to vote without giving the matter more study and consideration. Mayor declared the motion as carni ed. Roll call showed the following vote on this motion: Ayes, Burns, Haylett and Wirth.; Noes, Meyer; motion declared carried. The matter of watering; trees in parking strips by the ',later Dept. was referred to the Street & Alley Committee for report at the next meeting. Regular session on January 19th was adjourned until January 22nd account no quorum being present; meeting on January 22nd was postponed account no quorum and those present decided to postpone meeting until the next regular session on Feb. 2nd. MINUTES OF ITEETINGS ON January 5th, January 7th, January 19th and January 22nd were read and approved. LICENSE APPLICATIOIJ FROI:T TOP;I KATAYAMA for a card room license was read; motion made by Mirth, seconded by Burns, that the license be granted ?and motion declared carried unanimously. LETTER OF PROTEST WRITTEN BY THE Pt" -SCO GUN CLUB ;VAS read, relative to action of the city council at their previous meeting in cutting off the budgeted appropriation of x;600.00 made for a watering system in river Park. ;Iot6on made. by ':firth, seconded by Skinnell, that the city clerk be instructed to write to the gun club and explain the financial condition of the city; motion carried. LAIIDT,. amounting to $50.00 for 010,000.00 bond for the city treasurer, was referred to the Claims Committee for investigation as Warrant No. 8941, amount °„9.5.00, covered premium for a bond for former treasurer (Mrs. Rutherford) for a two year term and unearned portion of this premium should be applied on new bond for present treasurer.
