Diehm, Andy Tustin and R. E. Swain for trucks; L. Pyles and E. J. Reynolds for restaurant and soft drinks; American Hotel for hotel. Motion made by McGee, seconded by Anderson, that license be granted; carried on roll call without dissent. (At this point Johnson arrived.) , Comment from State Examiner D. L. Wallace was read and ordered filed. Letter read from C. A. Swartz, attorney at Bellingham, relative to Bond #9, L. I. D #47; motion made by Anderson, seconded by McGee, that communication be referred to the city attorney; carried on roll call. (Partch arrived at this point). Taxi parking at Pence Hotel: Police Committee reported relative to request of W. D. Pence, that taxi be permitted to park in front of his hotel, that nothing be done until the traffic# ordinance is revised. Motion made by Anderson, seconded by Partch and carried on roll call, that report of Police Committee be accepted. Clerk was also instructed to write Mr. Pence, that they could for the time being use the loading zone in front of his hotel for taxi stand. EXTENSION OF FRANCHISE TO N. W. NATURAL GAS COMPANY: C. L. Powell of Kennewick being present asked the council to grant an extension of present franchise of the N. W. Natural Gas Co., and ha.n�ed in resolution which they desired to have adopted.(Resolution read as shown on Page 34 of these minutes). After resolution was read, motion was made by Johnson, seconded by McGee, that resolution be adopted as read; roll call ordered and showed all members voted for the motion. ORDINANCE No. Blank, being "An ordinance fixing the maximum length, maximum width and maximum load of all motor buses, motor trucks and other motor vehicles operating upon the streets of Pasco.", etc. was introduced and read; motion made by Partch, seconded by Anderson, that ordinance be declared to have had its first reading; carried on roll call six to one, those voting"Ayet being Anderson, McGee, Meyer, Partch, Skinnell and Wirth; "No", Johnson. Ordinance was given its second reading by title only and motion was made by Partch, seconded by Anderson, that ordinance be declared to have had its second reading; roll call showed those voting "Aye", Anderson, McGee, Meyer, Partch, Skinnell and Wirth; "No", Johnson. At this point Councilmen Johnson and Skinnell were excused. BIDS FOR COAL were opedn and found to be higher that previous yearo by about 02.00 per ton;.motion made byx Wirth, seconded by Anderson, that all bids be rejected; carried on roll call without dissent. Purchasing agent was informally authorized to shop around to try and purchase city'® coal at a more reasonable price. 1932 Budget: After making some additions to tentative budget submitted by the City Clerk, the council adopted the following resolution without dissent, upon motion made by McGee and seconded by Anderson: Adjourned.sessi.on _September 3rd, 1931. "WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Pasco, Washington, met in adjourned session on Thursday, the 3rd day of September, 1931, to consider the W eliminary budget for the City of Pasco for the year 1932, and having made such revisions as deemed advisable in said bud- get as submitted by the City Clerk of said City of Pasco, "Now, Therefore, Be It resolved, that the preliminary budget so considered be and the same is hereby ordered placed on file for the information of any taxpayer who may call at the office of the City Clerk for information concerning same, or for copies thereof, and "Be It Further Resolved, that the City Clerk of the City of Pasco given due notice that said preliminary budget is on file and that the City Council will. meet on Monday, the Fifth day of October, 1931, at the hour of 8 o'clock P.M. at the City Hall in the City of Pasco, for the purpose of fixing the final budget and making tax levies in accordance there- with; that the City Clerk cause such notice to be published each week for two consecutive weeks immediately following the adoption of this resolution."
