McGee ROLL CALL: City council, met in regular session with Mayor Pro Tem/presiding and following councilmen present: Anderson, McGee, Meyer and Wirth; absent were Johnson, Partch and Skinnell. Minutes of regular session held Aug. 4th were read and approved. FEEDING UNEMPLOYED: E. L. Collins representing the Community Chest Committee informed the council that his committee was advocating the formation of a committee consisting of one member each from the City Council, County Commissioners and Chamber of (Commerce to handle the care of unemployed this winter and that they recommended that while present low prices prevailed, that a supply of vegetables, etc. be purchased and stored for later use. Members of the council declared themselves in complete sympathy with the idea and advised him that the city would appoint a member of that committee. NATURAL GAS: C. L. Powell, representing the N. W. Natural Gas Co. appeared before the council representing President Newburn and informed the council that their company was now digging a well about 12 miles from Kennewick from which they hoped to secure sufficient gas to furnish both Kennewick and Pasco. They wanted to #now how the council would feel towards granting them an extension of the time to begin work under their franchise, which is now Sept. 4th, 1931. Mr. Powell was advised that inasmuch as there were only four members of the council present, the council preferred that absent members be given a chance to express themselves in regard to the extension of time and that ,a definite answer would be given at the next meeting on Sept. 1st. CLAIMS AGAINST CURRENT EXPENSE AND WATER FTEDS: Following claims against the Current Expense and Water funds were read and motion was made by Anderson, seconded by Wirth, that the bills be allowed and warrants be drawn for the same: WARRANT: (Current Expense) 9341 P. -P. & L. Co., streets lights _ _ 261.75 9342 Union Oil Co., gasoline for variou� departments' 74.95 (Water Dept. Fund) 1477 Union Oil Co., gasoline for cars _ _ _ 19.92 1478 P. P. & L. Co., power _ _ 586.79 Roll call showed all voting for the motion. LICENSES: License applications read from following: Gus Newman and Skaggs Safeway Stores, for soft drinks; -C. M. Hastings and W. J. Diehm for drays. Motiozi made by Anderson, seconded by Wirth, that licenses'be granted; carried without dissent on roll call. Communication read from Wm. D. Perkins re LIDbonds; no action taken. Report of Water Manager showing net profts of.$1041.55 read and ordered filed. w BIDS FOR COAL: Motion made by A=* Meyer, seconded by Anderson, that clerk be instructed to advertise for bids for sixty tons of coal, 30 tons to be delivered Oct. 1st and 30 tons January 1st; motion carried. LICENSE OF AUSTIN TAXI _ J. L. Slaybaugh: J. L. Slaybaugh for license to operate his Austin as a taxi, and a communication of Kennewick was read, calling attention to the fact that the co. from issuing license to Slaybaugh, unless they had evidence that gtLIlty of some crime or misdemeanor, or was morally unit to have discussion, motion was made by Wirth, seconded by Meyer, that li roll call showed following votes: Ayes, McGee, Meyer and Wirth; again made application from Attorney Holcomb uncil could not refrain he had been found such license. After .,ease be granted; 'Noes, Anderson. Communication read from W• D. Pence, asking that a parking zone be placed in front of his hotel; motion made -by Wirth, seconded by Anderson, that the communication be referred to the Police Committee for consideration and retort at the next meeting; carried. City Clerk called attention to balance of $11215.44 in -City Hall sinking fund, vhich should be transferred to Refunding Bonds sinking fund and that this transfer would enable the latter fund to handle -the entire issue of city light bonds; motion made by Meyer, seconded by Anderson, that treasurer be instructed to taxes transfer 01125.44 from city hall bond sinking fund to the refunding bond sinking fund; roll call showed all voting for the motiuii. .a'i0`J!TKa!"S"!�': Motion made by Anderson, seconded by Meyer that meeting adjourn; motion. carried.
