ROLL CALL: The city council met in regular session with Mayor Gray presiding and following members present: Councilmen Johnson, McGee, Meyer and Skinnell; absentees were Anderson, Partch and Wirth. MINUTES OF REGULAR SESSION HELD JULY 7th were read and approved. CLAIMS AGAINST CURRENT EXPENSE AND WATER FUNDS: Following claims against Current Expense and Water Fund were read and motion was made by Meyer, seconded by McGee, that the bills be allowed and warrants be issued for the same; roll call sh6wed all voting for the motion. WARRANT 9282 State Treasurer, insurance and medical aid, _ _ .21.05 9283 Lester Harding, fertilizer for the city parks _ _ 8.00 9284 P. P. & L. Co., city lights _ _ _ 276.15 Total Current Expense 305.20 1457 State Treasurer, industrial insurance and medical aid _ 8.29 1458 P. P. & L. Co., power for pumps _ _ 647.35 Total mater Fund .64 Claim of P. P. & L. Co. for $20.00 for lights at the Star of Hope Mission was referred to Mayor Gray for investigation. LINCENSES: Following applications for x licenses were read: Restaurants: Mrs. M. Hodge, Mrs. J. J. Scott; restaurant and soft drinks, W. C. Wallace; Second Hand Stores, Mrs. P. P. Fitzpatrick and Martell & Shaw; Dance Hall, The Bungalow; Theatre, The Liberty; Soft drinks, J. A. Johanson, Beck's Bakery, P. P. Fitzpatrick; Rooming house, Geo. L. Spears. Motion made by McGee, seconded by Johnson, that licenses be granted; carried without dissent on roll call. Applicatio4 of JoyLand Shows for a license to operate carnival for one week was rejected upon motion made by McGee, seconded by Meyer and carried without dissenting vote on roll call. Reportsof Building Inspector and Mater Manager were read and ordeied filed. Report of 'Vater Manager showed net profits of $1250.35 for the previous month's operation. OILING C&IETERY ROAD: Communication from County Commissioner H. B. Jensen relative to oiling of street leading to the eematery was read; letter suggested that county and city each bare half the expense, which was estimated at approximately $1300.00. By unanimous consent, communication was referred to Street..& Alley Committee for handling. DR. O'BRIEN APPOINTED HEALTH OFFICER. Mayor Gray appointed Dr. H. B. O'Brien as Health Officer, to fill term of Dr. H. S• Foskett who had left the city; motion made by McGee, seconded by Johnson, that the appointment be confirmed; motion carried unanimously on roll call. Relative to moving house obstructing Byers' lots on the East side, Johnson reported that Martell, z¢zx owner of the house, had informed him that he was making arrangements to have it moved. Matter of installing a drinking fountain on Tacoma St. was discussed but.no action was taken. ADJOURNMENT: Motion made by McGee, seconded by Meyer, that meeting adjourn; motion carried.
