ROLL CALL: City council met in regular session with Mayor Gray presiding and fol- lowing members present: Johnson, I:1IcGee, Beyer, Partch, Skinnell and girth; absent Anderson. MINUTES OF REGULAR SESSION HIED Feb. 3rd were -read and approved. L. N. Goodell appeared before the council and requested permission to build a fence on the outside of parking strip at this property at 3rd and Yakima Sts. L"_otz on made by McGee, seconded by Mirth, that the matter be feferred to the Street &; Alley Committee for investigation with power to act; roll call showed all voting for the motion. CLAIKS AGAINST CUITIENT EXPENSE: Following claims against Current Expense were read and motion was made by McGee, seconded by "Partch, that the bills be allowed and warrants be drawn for the same; roll call showed all voting for the motion. E. J. Reynolds read a statement relative to busses parking at 4th & Lewis St. and F. J. Glover spoke in opposition. Communication read from City Clerk of Raymond, in which he forwarded copy of their ordinance No. 643. Report of ,'later I,Ianager read; report of city clerk passed around; report of city treasurer passed around; all were ordered filed. FIRE HYDRANTS; ;7a ter Committee reported on matter of petition from L. IJ. Hemsworth et all, asking for fire hyrdrants, that they recommended installation of one at 12th � Irving Streets. I:Iotion male by Partch, seconded by TlcGee, that the hyi rant be installed; roll call showed all voting for the motion. LIGHT AT LEXIIS ST-REET CROSSING: Johnson brouMt up matter of light removed at Lewis St. Crossing about a year ago; motion made by Johnson, seconded by Skineill that the Light Committee investigate the adviseability of installing a light at the crossing; motion carried without dissent on roll call. Police Committee reported thru IicGee, that they were not yet ready to report on revised traffic ordinance affecting busses at 4th &: Lewis St., as -committee had not met due to sickness in I.`r. Anderson's family and because city attorney had been busy in the court sessions. ���xnxxyetx-�n�x Peddler TruukOrdinance : Iyioti on made by 11cGee, seconded by Partch, that the matter of an ordinance placing license on peddler trucks along the lines of Raymond's Ordinance Uo. 643, be referred to the Police Committee for investigation and report at the next meeting; motion_ carried on roll call without opposition. The matter of an ordinance covering gathering of rubbish, etc., had been referred to the Street Committee, who were not yet ready to make a specific recommendation. CATERPILLAR TRACTOR. Partch stated that he had run across a caterpillar tractor at Yakima in good condition, which could be purchased for X700.00, and that he urged that it be purchased, as it :could be of immense help to the Street Dept• on account of not being able to secure county equipment. 1 -lotion made by Johnson, seconded by Skinnell that Street Commi:;sioner A. B. Hill be sent to Yakima. to look the tractor over and to see if it .,ould be OIC for city use, he to report to Street Committee as soon as possible. Roll call showed all voting for the motion. (At this point Hr. Johnson was excused) . I,Iotion made by EcGee, seconded by I!lirth, that the Clerk be instructed to put in a call for bids on a second hand caterpillar tractor of 25 to 30 HP, with a second hand grader, condition d)f equipment as zT well as price to be a determining factor in considering bids. Roll call showed all voting for the motion, FIRE I7ORKS TO BE OlI SATLE OITE 17EEN BEFORE FOUL TH : I:IcGee advised the council that merchants wanted to know what time, if any, before the Fourth, theybwould be able to place fireworks on sale for the celebrating of July 4th- It was decided unofficially. by members of the council that merchants :could be permitted to sell fireworks for one week before July 4th.
