Mae. stretti., J.Collingsworth,- Skaggs Safeway for soft drinks; Louise Fitzpatrick, rooming house; Chauncey Harper, Conlen Bros. and J!1. E. Juvenal,drays; E. a. Reynolds, hotel, restaurant and soft drinks; Martell & Shaw, second hand store. Lotion made by girth, seconded by. Anderson, that license be granted; roll call showed unanimous vote for the motion. UNION OIL CO. CON`T'RACT FOR GASOLIIM: Lehr read from Spokane office.of Union Oil Co., asking for cancellation of their contract to furnish gasoline at 16.2-� per gallon. Motion made by Wirth, seconded by Anderson,, that City Clerk be instructed to write and acknowledge receipt of their letter and advise them that the city declined to cancel the contract. . Motion carried viva voce. TRAFFIC16 ORDINANCE & RECOIZENDATION OF POLICE COTMEITTEE: The Police Com- mittee made the following recommendation to the council: 111. That all "No Parking" placed be repainted where needed and "No Parking" and "Loading Zonex"stencilled signs be kept in" condi ti on so as . to be plainly visible from drivers' seats when cars are being parked. 2. We also recommend that Chief of eolice notify patrolment,+to keep "No Parking" zones clear. 3. We also recommend that Chief of Police extend the parking zone for auto stages on Lewis S treet Fest from Fourth to the East corner of the Chrysler Garage. - 4. We recommend and insist that auto freiL4it drivers comply nri.th present traffic ordinance and recommend that the Police Dept: enforce the ordinance pertaining. thereto. 5. We recommend that final action on amendment of traffic ordinance be deferred until conditions make it necessary to take f%wther action." Motion made by McGee, seconded by Andersoh, that the recommendation of the zolice Committee be adopted; motion declared carried (viva voce). An ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE TEMPORARY CLOSI!w, OF STREETS, ALLEYS AND PUBLIC lffAYS, DEFIIvIRG CERTAIN OFFENCES, AIM FIXING UTE PENALTIES THEREFOR, was read; motion made by Anderson, seconded by Wirth, that moti-on -be declared to have had its first reading; roll call shored all voting for the motion. Tlotion made by Anderson, seconded by Wirth, that ordinance be given its second reading by title only; roll call showed unanimous vote for the motion. N. W . NA7U. AL GAS CO . Natural Gas Corporation, holding a franchise for distributing gas in the city,' appeared before the council with a request that his company be granted an extension of one year from present date of Rept. 4th, or until Sept. 4th, 1931,- in which to begin work on their distributing system. He stated that while they had suff is ie nt gas vailable to supply Pasco and Kennewick and that if compelled to, they could pipe gas into those cities, still they did not want to place a six inch pipe to serve these two cities and later have to replace it iTi th a 12 inch main,, in order to extend their service to `,Valla Walla. If granted the extension, they would start next year in time tc have the city piped by September or October, so that citizens. could figure. on installing gas for heating purposes. The well they were now drilling, would give them the information they sought, as to whether they would have enough gas available to extend their System to Walla Walla, or not, at this time. W. natural Gas company be given one year extension from Sept. 4th, 1930 in which to begin their work. \, Roll call showed all voting ibr the motion.
