Regular session July 16th, 1929
ROLL CALL: The council met in regular session with Mayor Pro 'Tem McGee presiding;
present were Councilmen Anderson, - Davis,, McGee, • Meyer, Partch, Sargent and. Wirth.
MINUTES OF REGULAR I FETING Ht]LD JULY 2nd were read and approved.
CLAIIIS: Following bills were read and motion made by Anderson, seconded by
Wirth.- that bilis be allowed and warrants drawn for the same:
CURRENT EXPENSE:
#7856 I;i. H. Taylor.; reimbursemen for money spent for stamps and freight 3.67
#7857 Yakima Bindery & Printing Co.; numbering machine for treasurer 7.50
#7855 P. P. & L. Co., lights for streets and City Hall _ 305.24
SYLVESTER- PARK FUND:
X13 City Treasurer Reimburse Current expense for amount properly -
chargeable to Sylvester Park f land - _ _ 10.50
A petition was received from the St. Patrick's church, asking that Block 7 of the
cemetery be set aside for them. Referred to committee on cemetery upon motion made by
Anderson and seconded by Meyer.
- LICENSE APPLICATIONS ATE - RECEIVED FROT-1 FOLLOWING: Ge orgia Minstrels for show
on July 17th; Ifirs, Beulah IaIellin, V.E.Juvenal, John Nevman;- Skaggs Safeway Store,
and Beck's Bakery, for soft drinks; T.. Doe for lunch room in Eagle -pool hall; J. A.
Johnson to hr:ve license transferred from 114 ':o. 4th St. to the Liberty Theatre. Motion
made by Anderson, seconded by Wirth, that licenses be granted; motion carried.
Report of city Treasurer and typed reports from city Clerk were passed around.
Proposed Ordinance No. 378.,* being "Ali ORDINANCE RELATING, SUPERVISING AND
LICENSING POOL AND BILLARD HALLS AND SOFT DRINK PARLORS AND REPEALING ORDINANCE No.
365" was read; motion mde by Partch, seconded by Mirth., that it be declared to have
had its first reading. Roll call showed following: Ayes, Anderson, McGee, I:leyer,
Partch and Wirth;. noes, Davis. and. Sargent.
Motion made by Partch, seconded by ar irth, that the ordinance be given its
second reading by title; roll call shorted Ayes, Anderson, ivicGee, LlIeyer, Partch and
Wirth; Noes, Davis and Sargent.
Partch brought up the question of parking in down toren streets and the matter
was referred to the Police Committee with instructions to -act to see that present
rules were enforce, motion to that effect being made by Anderson and seconded by Partch.
,Bids for Coal were opened and showed the following:
Juvenal Ice & vuel Co., %8.45 per ton delivered for NWI Roslyn mine run.
Tum_A_Lum,Lbr. Co., X8.70 per ton delivered for MVI Roslyn mine run.
Kleeb Lumber co•; X8.50 per ton for Roslyn Cascade IJine run, delivered. r-
Conlen Bros., 88.50 delivered for Roslyn I-io. 1.
Motion made by Partch, seconded by Meyer, that the bid -of Conlen Bros., as
the lowest bid, be accepted; roll call shorted all voting for the motion.
J. A. Patrick having previously been appointed as chief of Police by 11.1ayor
Gray, motion was made by Partch, seconded by iaeyer, that the appointment be rejected;
motion carried without objection.
BIDS TO BE CALLED FOR FOR C JNSTRUC'T II•IG LIuHTS : Council discussed matter
of bids for rehabilitating the cluster lights and Partch was to revise specifications
in accordance v-dth an informal understanding -before the meeting and turn them over to
the City clerk. Motion then made by Partch, seconded by Anderson, that the clerk
be instructed to advertise for bids in accordance with Ordinance No. 377 and specifica-
tions to be filed with him, bids to be in and opened at 8 o'clock Ply, August 20th -
Roll call showed all voting for the motion.
City Attorney asked council for how long a period the proposed bonds were to
run and it was decided to make them run for a period of ten years, motion to that
effect being made. by Partch and seconded by h1eyer.
