COIZ17JNICATIONS : Communication read from Automobile Club of Washington
in which they submitted cuts of traffic signs and prices; referred to Police Comlraittee
Mrs. W* F. Chute wrote the council advising that her tern of office had expired;
motion m- de by t7ayde, seconded by Hays, that 1,11rs. Chute be reappointed to succeed her-
self for the term e=piring Dec. 31st, 1930; upon roll- call., the appointment was
confirmed by unanimous vote.
Communication read from Yakima Iron -Viorls quoting a price of $17.50 each for
manhole covers in their standard size of 21x"; if city wanted regular type used by
city in the past, which measure 20x, it iould cost $30.00 to make the pattern. notion
made by McGee, seconded by Hays, that the matter be referred to the Street &, Alle; Committ-
ee; motion carried.
ADDITIOI+TAL LOT DONATED TO CITY AT SYLVESTER PARK: A deed was read from rs.
W. F. Chute, presenting the city with Lot C, Block 3, Gerry Addition, to Pasco, to be
field and used: for playgrpund purposes; this is part of the original Sylvester Park.
11otion made by Hays, seconded by Smith, that the deed be accepted with thanks; upon
roll call, all voted for the motion.
LICENSE 'AS GRANTED TO J. C. Britfain as a second land deAler upoll motion made
by McGee and seconded by Hays; roll call showed all voting in favor of the.motion.
REPORTS OF 0OT;j[�:IITTEES: Water Commiittee reported that they had not yet held their
meeting wits- the Park Board relative to furnishing water to Sylvester Park, but tllat they
Mould do so in the near future and male their report at t -he ne=-t meeting.

LIGHTS ON SOUTH FROST STREET: At the meeting .of the council held April 5th,
1927, a. petition' signed by J. W. Ashton, etal, - vias presented asking for two lights
to be placed on South Front Street, one at Lytle and'the other at East "A" Streets;
the petition was referred to the Light &: tiVater Committee and'at the meeting of April
19th, 1927, the committee reported that it would -cost approx. �"-250.00. to install
the lights as there was no service in -that pari; of the city, but that if six residents
in that vicinity would tale electricity regularly, the P. P. &; L. Co. would install
the lights without additional cost. It was brought to the attention.of the council
that the necessary number of residents had agreed to take electricity and motion eras
then duly mode by C. H. Smith, seconded by Hays, that the Light & Water Committee be
instructed to interview Mr. Ashton relative to installation of the lights and that
the comittee be given authority to..have the lights installed. Upon roll call, all
voted in favor of the mot ion.
REPORT OF POLICE JUDGE QUINLAN SHOMED Fines amounting to ;,381.00 as collected
in February; motion made by Smith, seconded by McGee, that -report be accepted and
placed on file; motion carried.
ORDIN_NCE ADOPTIYG WATER RATES ec P GULATIOETS: Protosed Ordirmance No. 3171,
being"A.n ordinance relating to the LT-Lulicipal Water Supply Sys'toin of 'the City of Pasco,
regulating the use of water therefrom, providing for the C k- o.' the same, fixing the
price tilerez6f and providing a method of collecting rates t�lerefor and providing
Penalties for violation of this ordi�.nce,"was read; Motion made by Hays, secended
by Smith,. that proposed ordinance -371 be decla.ed to have had its first reading; upon
roll call, motion carried by unanimous vote. -�
Ordinance ;-371 was then read by title and motion was made by Hays, seconded W
by Smith, that the ordinance be declared to have had its second reading; upon roll
call, all voted for the motion.
A. B. HILL 17AS APPOINTED AS CHIEF OF POLICE BY 11AYOR a. -Lid mo tion was glade
by McGee, seconded by Hays, that the appointment be confirmed; motion lost upon roll
call, as follows: Ayes, Hays and !McGee; Noes, Davis, Smith and tTayde.
In the 1LLatter of the appointment of B. B. HO-2IGAIT for Police Judge, Council_
man Smith stated that the Police Coiiimittee had interview MIs. Horrigan sever<iltimes
during the past weep and ashed him if he would accept 'the position if the council
confirmed him, but that 1,ir. Horrigan stated that he would be .unble to accept the
position on account of large amount of other business; in vib r of this Smith moved
that B. B. Horrigan be rejected as police judge; motion was seconded by Hays and
upon roll call, motion carried unanimously.
Chief Taylor brought up the question of the signal at 4th 80,- Lewis Street
and after discussion it was informally decided to leave the signal in the center of
that intersection.
The fact that ao many small bills were being presented, which could be
handled thru a. revolving fund was brought to the attention of the council and a motion
was made 4Lby' ffayde, seconded by IvIcGee, that the City Treasurer be granted a. revolving,
fund of y3250'00, from Current Expense, with which to pay small bills, such'as reight,
stamps, etc. Upon roll call, the motion was carried by - vote e,16,9 eD/-
Ayes, Hays, I.icGee,Smith and Wayde; hoes,, Davis. '
