H. Smith and Wayde;. absent were Tie Gee and D. E. Smith. MINUTES OF I12�11ETING HELD FEBRUARY 7th, MERE READ AND APPROVED. D. E. Smith granted Leave of absence: A communication was received from Councilman D. E. Smith asking for a leave of absence until such time as his work would enable him to again attend regularly; motion made by Pyles, seconded b C. H. Smith, that the leave of absence be granted; motion carried (viva voca). REPORTS OF COI211ITTEES : SYLVESTER PARK %;TATER : Mater Committee thru Councilman C. H. Smith, reported that nater could be piped to Sylvester Park at an approximate cost of 0220.00 for a four inch service line and approx. $110.00 for a tem inch service line; committee was to rEeet with the Park Board and ascertain just what was wanted and they Mould then render a further report. LIGHT ORDERED IN AT COLUTIBIA & ll°Zf1IN STS.: Water & Light Committee also rendered a report relative to light requested put in at blain & Columbia Streets in a petition submitted by Geo. Sams, et cal; they recommended that a 75 matt light be placed on that corner. I,Zotion made by Pyles, seconded by C. H. Smith, that the report of the committee be accepted and that light be plaeed.in accordance with their recon endation. Upon roll call, all voted for the motion. Councilman Smith reported for the ffater Committe on progress being made in drawing tip proposed ordinance and code covering rates and regulations of the 17ater' Dept. A number of paragraphs of the proposed code were submitted, to the council for their approval and suggestions, At this time Councilman 17ayde was excused and left the council chambers. Report of Water Manager I:Ioretz showing net profit -of 6A72.31 was submitted to the council; motion made by C. K. Smith, seconded by.Hays, that the report be Accepted and placed on file ; upon roll call, all voted for the motion. Reports of City Glerk and Treasurer were passed around. -B. B . HORR I GAIN WAS NOMINATED FOR POLICE JCTD GE IN A C O10NUITI CATI OI�a from Kayor Gray. Hays moved that Mr. Horrigan be confirmed; motion lost for grant of a second.' Motion was then made by C. H. ;smith, seconded by Hays, that the matter of confirmation be laid over until the Next re oglar meeting . to comup under the head og ''Unfinished Business". Upon roll call,,' all voted for the motion. E. W. WTRTH WAS NOMINATED FOR CHIEF OF POLICE In a letter from Mayor Gray end motion was made by Hays, seconded by Pyles, that the m appointment be confirmed; upon roll call, motion lost three to one as follows: -Ayes, Hays; Iloes, Davis, Pyles and C.. H. Smith C. H. Smith reported that he had received complaints relative to condition of premises occupied by Byers and Byquist, stating that several men had asked him to do something towards having present conditions improved. After discussion by the coun- cil of similar cases thruought the city, the matter was left in the hands of the Chief of Police without any formal action being taken. Pyles brought up the matter of furnishing Yater at the airplane field, but no- action was taken, Pyles stated that the pump on the fire engine needed repairs and the matter" eras referred to the Chief of Police for attention, 11r. Taylor informing the council that 1VIr.
