Councilman Wayde was excused from further attendance and left the meeting. APPLICATION OF J. E. THACIMR FOR A MAY LICENSE WAS READ; motion made by Hays, seconded tWx by C. R. Smith that the license be granted; upon roll call all in favor of the motion. H. WARDEN RESIGNED AS POLICE JUDGEIN.A COI2'ZIUITICAT ION READ TO THE COUNCIL, in which he stated that press of other business was the cause;x motion made by Pyles:; seconded by Bays, that the .resignation be accepted; upon roll call, all voted in favor of the motion. ITEV,1M \T WAS APPOINTED TO THE LIBRARY BOARD FOR THE TERM ENDING DEC. 31st,. 1932, suceeeding herself; motion made by Pyles, seconded by hays, that the appointment be confirmed; upon roll call, all voted in favor of the motion. TIr. H. j. Doolittle of the Hargeave Construction Co. addressed the council on the matter of pavements; he asked that a resolution be passed' by the city council asking that the State put in a hard pavement of somekind instead of oiling, between the Columbia and Snakei{fiver bridges. The following resolution was therefore introduced: "WHEREAS -9, the State ,of 11ashington is confronted with the dust nuisance on the highviays of Eastern rias ping t on, . and., "WHEREAS.,, it is understood tlait the State contemplates a light type of oiling on State Highway Eb. 3 from Yasco to Walla Walla;,. noir; therefore, "BE IT RESOLVED, by the City uou.ncif of the City of Pasco, that we recommend that some intermediate type of construction be used as a sample piece, between the Colum- bia River :Bridge on the Vilest and the Snake :giver Lridge on the East." TIoti.on then made by Pyles, seconded by C. B. Smith,, that the resolution be adopted as read; upon roll call, all voted for the motion. Report of Police Judge Warden for month of December was read axil motion was made by t;. ti. Smith';' seconded, by Hays, that report be accepted and placed on file; on -roll call, all voted affirmatively. LEE BARNES WAS APPOINTED CHIEF Oil POLICE BY t:iAYOR GRAY; motion made by Hay s, seconded by :eyles,, that the appointment be confirmed; upon roll call, motion lost three to one, as follows: Ayes, Rays; Does, Davis, Pyles, C. a. Smith. ADJOURIMMIPT: Motion made by Pyles, seconded by Hays, that the meeting adjourn; motion carried. ATTEST: Passed and approved this 17th day of Januar 1928.
