H. Smith and Wayde; absent were Pyle's and D. E. Smith; it was reported. that D. E. Smith was attending the funeral of a relative. I1INUTES OF i.IEETING HELD JUICE Ith, were read and approved. C01JULTiJNI CA'T'IONS : Co:muni cation from H. A. Langley, Special Deputy Supervisor of Banking,, liquidating the Scandinavian American Bank of Seattle was read, asking if the city would care to make an offer for L.I - .D.bonds in Districts Nos. 23, 27 and 30. No action was tarn. REPAIRS TO CITY HALL ROOF: Letter from Pasco Sheet Metal works was read relative to pepairs to city hall roof and giving an estimate tx as to cost; labor and material for making permanent repairs to roof and guttor would cost about X225.00., / while -cost of painting roof and gutter would cost 4100.00, making total cost 1�325<:d0. Council seemed of the opinion that the bid was too high and upon notion by T:IeGee, seconded by C. H. Smith., the matter was referred to the Building ConrIittee for further investigation and report. Ifotion made by I:IcGee, seconded by C. H. Smith that the matter be referred to the Public Property Committee; upon roll call all. voted for the motion. Letter from the Harvard .Electric Co. about street traffic signs was read; no action taken. REVISED TRAFFIC ORDINANCE TO CONFORM i ITH SITI-ITE Lr E:rS TO BE DRAVIN UP. After a discussion regarding parking and new traffic regulations, a motion was made by ka I:1IcGee, seconded by Davis, that the Folic Committee be instructed to draft a. new traffic ordinance to comply with .the state laws. and that they make a report at the next meeting. Report of City 'Treasurer for Llay was passed around the council table. DOG LICET,TSES : The mattter of dog licenses having been brought up, motinnn was made by C. H. Smith, seconded by He Gee, that the chief of .police be authorized to purchase dog license tags and book of license blanks wherever he gets the best price; I,Iayor-ordered a roll call and the motion was passed unanimously. ABSENCE CAUSES ITO ADDITIONAL EXPE-7TSE: The matter of employes being off having• been brought uL:) by .JGi. vs•, he Tilade the following motion which was seconded by %IcGee:• "That the council go on record as it being pe-rmissable for city employes to be -absent without loss of time or pay, when their duties are ta- ken care of by other city employes without added expense to the. city, application to be made to the chairman in charge of that department and permission obtained." Upon roll call all voted for the mo -tion. ADDITIONAL PUIdPER AUTHORIZED: On account xg of high water in the river causing seepage at the pump house requiring pu:!ping every two hours, the council felt it necessary to authorize help for the pumper. Iilotion was made by Davis.,, seconded by Smith, that the i'ate-r Tranager be instructed to. employ a second man to help the pumper until the present situation clears up. Upon roll call therer tiwas a unaniirnous vote for the motion. The 2C&erk- called attention of the council- to receipts as compared to the budget expenditures. After discussion the Finance Committee was infor:zally aslred to get in touch with department heads to see :what amount, if any, could be cut from the budget. LICENSES VIERE GRANTED TO TIE FOLLOi'IING: Restaurants: City Cafe; Peddler of fish and vegetables, %I. N. Wernett; Pool halls:and soft drinks: T. Doi, H.A. Yamouchi; hotels 84 rooming houses: llrs. S- Doi, I;vlrs. H.A.Yamouchi and I:iable Coleman; soft drinks: H. C. Wayde. !:lotion was madd by I:IcGee, seconded by Hays, that licenses for the above applicants be granted; upon roll call, all voted for the motion.
