ITotion was made by Wayde, duly seconded by C'. H. Smith, that the First day of each month be designated as pay-day for city employes appearing on regular payrolls, � and that the City Clerk be authorized to Issue warrants to cover such pay upon tdm=== the payrolls being OK'd by the Auditing Cor mittee of the council. Gilman, -called the attention of the council 'to the fact that Andy Martell was maintaining a hogpen on the South side of Hain St.'adjacent to Lir. Gilman's property and asked tl t necessary steps be taken to abolish it. Chief Taylor reported that he had notified I;lartell to get rid of the hogpen. I:lotion made by 111cGee, seconded by Hays, that the matter be referred to the Street w Alley Committee to investigate and report at the nexlt sleeting. 1,layar ordered a roll call and all voted in favor of the motion. CHUTE FOR LICE11SE TO CONDUCT POOL lli=: Application eras received for a renewal of his lienae to conduct a, pool hall on Fourth Street; application being OK'd by the committee, motion was made by Pyles, seconded by `:IcGee, that the � t$D14L:J_=" < •? g �$,r license be granted. Tlayor ordered a. roll call and all voted in favor of the motion. COI_I,iY APPLICATIONS FOR LICENSES: FEE TO ACP- A 1:1Iotion made by 1,IcGee, seconded by D. E. Smith, that the Police & License Committee be instructed not, to present any applications for licenses in future, unless the proper license fee accompany such application. CHIEF OF POLICE TO CHECK ALL CURRENT LICEITSEJS : ITo'tion made by Davis, seconded by I:1cGee, that the Chief of Police be instructed to make a check of all licensed business in the city and that he render a report at the nem t meeting of the council as to the licensed standing of such business. RELEASE OF OLD BOLDS OF ELVER PURYEA.�M AND CITY CLERK SPEIER : The City Attorney introduced letters addressed to the New Amsterdam Co. and Cox- Investment Co. releasing old bonds of for-�er Chief Elmer Puryear and City Clerk Speier (the latter being covered by a. new bond) and asked that the mayor be authorized to sign such releases. i:lotion made by C. REPORT OF, CITY TREASURER FOR DECEI:IBER was passed around to the members of the council it for their information. REPORT OF 1 A'!ER C01,111.IITTEE: The report of the Slater Committee was -read and copies passed to members of the council. This report called attention to the fact that no permanent files and records had apparently been kept and that it was their intention to insta llmodern records so that complete files could be kept on business trams ac ti ons of the Water Departi} ent.' The report also stated that outstanding accol-ants had been redC_ced from `573.95 in December to 1364.75 and that they e__Tected to affect a still. further reduction in the next thirty days. ;lotion made by Pyles, seconded by C. STREETS: The bill_ presented by Erickson &- Co. for -signals furnished at Fourth c, Lcni.s Street was discussed. These signals had been placed on trial and if they dict not prove satisfactory, the city was at liberty to -return them, according to statement made by former mayor Hensen to. members of the council• Motion was thereupon made by I;IcGee, seconded by Hays, that as the Slow Signals installed at fourth and Lewis Streets had proven unsatisfactory, that the Street Superintendent be instructed to have the StreeteDept. take up such Slot?
