HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-19-1924 MinutesAugust 19, 1924. The Council met in regular session with Mq7 or Gannon presiding: The following answered Coll call: Bryan, Goodell, O'Herin, and Pyles. The minutes of August 5th were read and there being no objections the Mayor declared them approved as read. Bryan and Pyles appointed on the claims commitgtee in absence of Robbins and Jewell. The following bills approved by the claims committee were read: Voucher number Clammant Distribution Amount Northern Pacific Railway Co Pump house lease �25.00� O'Herin seconded by Bryan moved that the bill be allowed as read and warrant drawn for same. Upon roll Ball all councilmen voted Yes. A letter from the Pacidic Power and Light Company stating they would have the meters at the pump house tested if we want them was read. O'Herin seconded by Pyles moved that the letter he referred to the l"ater Manager. Carried. Application of Churchman Bros for a hotel read. Pyles seconded by Goodell moved that a license be granted. Carried. Application of A. F. Syluuster to operate a pool hall and soft drihk establishment read. O'Herinmseconded by Goodell moved that a license be granted. Carried. The rate committee and natatorium committee were not ready to report. Proposed ordinance held over until the next meeting. Letter from Mr. Clinton in regard to his house at the pump house read. O'Herin seconded by Bryan moved that the City Clerk is hereby instructed to negotiate for purchase of.building situated on pump house site ground now under lease payment not to exceed 0150000. Upon roll call all councilmen '#oted Yes. The matter of consolddating the two water systems was brot up. O'Herin-seconded by Pyles moved that of be the sense of the council that the best interests of the City of Pasco would be served by distributing water thru one distributing system and that a special committee of three be appointed to work in connection with city attorney to gather data, form plans, get estimates of expenditurfs necessary for reconstruction of mains and determine legal procedure for elimination of present imrigation distributing system and gather any other data possible in connection with the (question and report to. the cou cil as soon as possible9 Upon roll call all councilmen voted Yes. tiVfater committee appointed as committee. O'Herin seconded by Pyles mov, eA' that the City Clerk be authorized to submit bill to A. B. Fosseen and Company for S0100.Y70 for motor purchases from City. �,Carriedo O'Herin seconded by Pyles moved that the Purchasing Agent advertise for bids for coal for City hall. Carried. Goodell seconded by O'Herin moved that the corner of third and Lewis streets be d6signated for free open air public speaking and be under supervision of chief of police. Carried. Geo Austin makes application for pool hall and soft drink license. Bryan seconded by Pyles moved that the application be left with the police and license committee. Carried. Mr. Landt spoke in behalf of the school board asking for reduction in rates for -ater for high school and other school buildings® Bryan seconded,by Goodell moved that the water uommitte take up with the city attorney and school board and report to council. Carried. I'dr. O'Herin spoke in regard to getting water to ®'Keefes Second addition for a party building 9, home there. O'Herin seconded by Goodell moved that the matter be referred to the water committee to investigate and report. Carried. O'Herin seconded by Pyles moved that the meeting adjourn to meet Tuesday Aug.
