HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-15-1924 Minutes54 April 15, 1924. The council met in regular session with Mayor Gannon presiding. The following answered roll call: Bryan, Jewell, O'Herin, and Robbins. The minutes of March 19th and April 1st were read and there being no objections the Mayor declared them approved as read. O'Herin seconded by Robbins moved that the bills be allowed and warrants drawn for same. Upon roll call all councilmen volked YES. 1�e tter from Rev A. D. Shaw asking for privilege to use tacker at a reduced rate for irrig&ting the Congregational Church lawn was read. Robbins seconded by Jewell moved that the letter be placed on dile and answer stating impossible to gran# request. Carried. Letter from Yakima Iron Works in regard to man holezxrsad.covers was read. O'Herin seconded by Robbins moved that the leuter be placed onfile. Carried. Letter from Franklin County Sportmen's Club in regard to paacing a building in City Park at Columbia River for thmm to place there supplies for trapshooting was read. Robbins seconded by O'Herin moved that the" Sport Club be allowed to place building as stated. Carried. Mr. Davis spoke in regard to lease on pump house site. O'Herin seconded by Robbins moved that the committee on Public Prnperty negotiate with the Northern Pacific for lease on pump house site and approach. to pump house site. Carried. AN ORDINANCE GRANTIII TO THE CITY WATER MANAGER POWER AND AUTHORITY TO MAKE PURCHASES TO THE AMOUNT NOT MORE TH1ilf FIFTY DO"ARS ($50.00) Each was given i t s third reading. O'HERIN seconded by ROBBINS moved that the ardijaance be passed and adopted as read. Upon roll call all councilmen voted YES. AN O'.DINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE A: PROPRIATION OF 01500.00 TO r.'.YROVE SYLVESTER STR,'+.ET' FROM THE CITY LIMITS TO YAKIMA STREET AND TO 1rJ1rROVE YAKI11A STREET FROM SYLVESTER STREET TO FOURTH STREET, AND PROVIDING FOR THE SuYLxVISROtd, CONTROL AND EXPENDITURE OF SUCH FUND, was given its third reading. Bryan -seconded by Robbins moved that the ordinance xxk be rejected. - Upon roll call all councilmen voted YES. Agreement signed by 6 councilmen in regard to furnishing water to N. P. RR CO. was read. Robbins sedonded by Jewell moved that the matter of furnishing water to the Northern Pacific Railway Company and rate to be charged be referred to the water committee and they see proper authorities and report at the nexregular mebtang. O'HERIN voted No. Jewell, Bryan, and Robbins voted yes. Robbins seconded by 08her in moved that the Pacific Power and Light Cc be instructed to change light at 10th and Lewis Streets to conform with new raod. Carried. Robbins seconded by O'Herin moved that the water manager be authorized to have some time checks printed. . Carried. O'Herin seconded by Robbins moved that water rates be revised for irrigation months and engineer and water manager be instructed to compile new schedule of rates. Carried. Jewell seconded by O'Herin rpoved that the office of water manager be declared vacant. Upon roll call O'herin, Jewell and Robbinsvoted YES. Bryan voted No. Robbins seconded by Jewell moved that Mr. R. B. McFarland be elected VlAAer manager. Upon roll call Jewell, Robbins, and O'Herin voted Yes, Bryan voted No. O'Herin seconded by Jewelll moved that the meeting adjourn to Friday April 18th.
