March 20, 1923.
The Council met in rezular session with Mayor Gannon presiding.
The follwoing answered roll call: Bryan, Goodell, March, O'Herin, P.les, and Robbins.
The minutes of Mar 6th and 13th were read and there being no objection the MW or declare
them approved as read.
the following bills approved by the claims committee were read:

Mareh seconded by Robbins moved that the hills be allowed and warrants drawn for same.
Upon roll call all councilmen voted YES.
Letter from North West Fire Apparatus Co read.
O'Herin secomded by March moved the letter be placed on file.
Carried.
Letter from Florence Crittenton Relief Committee read.
Robbins seconded by Pyles moved the letter be placed on file. Motion withdrawn.
Goodell seconded by Pyles moved the letter be turned over to the Chamber of Commerce.
Carried.
Resignation of E. A. Puryear as Fire chief read.
Robbins seconded by Goodell moved that the resignation be accepted.
Carried.
Mayor Gannon appointed D. Butler chief of pmttza fire department and E. A, puryear asst.
Robbins seconded by O'Herin moved that the appointments be confirmed.
Carried.
Some members of the Woman's Club appeared before the Council in regard to repiping the
Parking strips in Fourth Street.
Robbins seconded by Goddel moved that the matter of repiping the parking strips be re-
ferred to the Water Superintendent and he to report at the next meeting of the council
or to the individual members before then ens as soon as possible,
Carried.
O'Herin seconded by P yles moved that the '`Vater Superintendent report to the light and water
committee and they be authorized to take action and report to womans's Club.
Carried.
A petition for the enla.rgemtn of Sewer district No. 1 was read.
O'Herin seoonded by Pyles moved that an engineer be employed to furnish City��? th plans,
(��e�cifications and esti ,a✓tgd cost of providing lateral sewers for West half 3 , all of
, 4vand East halt of C+_5 Gantenbein's �ddition.for enlarged sewer district connecting
with sewer district No. 1. Pland to be submitted in alternative for Terra Cot*a and Concrete
and of sufficient depth to serve the property.
Car ried.
O'Herin seconded by Goodell moved that the Street and Alleyneommittee be authorized to
employ the engineer.
Carried.
Lou Eller appeared before the council in regard to dumping dirt from lots 17 & 18 Block 8
Gerry's Addition into the alley.
O'Herin seonded by Goodell moved that the matter be referred to the street and alley co-nmitti
with power to act.
Carried.
Robbins seconded by March moved that the mqVor appoint a committee of three to meet with
the City Attorney to draft an ordinance in regard to bees.
Car ried.
O'Herin, Pyles and Bryan appointed.
Mr. Atterbury spoke in regard to livestock within city limits.
Robbins secondel by TLgrch move' that the matter be referred to the committee on the bee
ordinance.
Carried.
O'Herin seconded by Pyles moved that the clerk write the Pacicif Power and Light Cc that
Elm street isnow open.
Carried.
Robbins seconded by Goodell moved that the City Clerk instruct the Pacific Power and Light
Company to install a 75 watt lamp at the corner of Railroad and I°ashin$ton Streets.
Carried.
Robbins seconds by Bryan moved that City ittorney draw up resolution of IntenVtion to
construct a sidewalk on both sidedsof Park Street from 4th to 5th Street and on Fourth
Street from Park to Margaret Street.
Carried.
Robbins seconded by March moved that the city dispense with Wm Scott'$ services as Janitor
after April 1st and have chief of police use prisoners to clean City Hall.
Carried.
O'Herin seconded by Pyles moved that the clerk notify plumbers that they are to get prmit
to make co::nections on sewer and to have co,nection inspected before C16sing.
Carried.
Levi Pyles appointed Street Superintend nt.
Bryan seconded by Robbins moved that the appointment be confirmed.
Carried.
Street Superintendent Pyles reco.nmdndad that the Street foreman be paid $150 per month
and other labor $4 per day.
Car ried.
Goodell seconded by Mar h moved that the recommendations be accepted.
Carried.
Goodell seconded by Pyles moved that the meeting adjourn. Cartied.

Pyles seconded by O'Herin moved that the meeting adjourn to meet Monday April 9th at
7;30 P. M. at which time the regular order of business be taken up the same as at this
meeting adjourned.
