The Iconnleil met in regular session with Mayor Warden presiding. The following answered roll call: Goodell, Haylett, March, Nelson and Robbins. The minutes of December 30th were raed and there being no objections the Mayor declared them approved as read. Upon roll call all councilmen voted YES. Report of P lice Judge Cox was read. Robbins seconded by melson moved the meeting adjourn. Carried. The new council consisting of Gannon Na, YWor and the following as councilmen took their seats: Robbins, March, Goodell, Pyles, Bryan, Nelson and Sargent. Clerk reported he had the oaths of office of new members and necessary bonds of clerk and treasurer. Mayor Bannon made the following apponitments: Claims: Robbins, Sargent, and March. Street and Alley Nelson, BryFn and Pyles. Water and Light: Goodell, Sargent, and Pyles. Police and Licenses: Belson. Goodell, and Pyles. Finance and Judiciary: March, Robbins, and Bryan. Auditing: Robbins, Nelson,and March. Public Property: Bryan, Nelson, and Goodell. Chief of Police; E. A. Puryear, Health Officier: Dr. E. B. O'Briem. Building Inspector: A. B. Custer. Street Commissioner; Levi Clayton. Park. Commissioners A. F. Wehe and'John Mulholland. Polic Judge; J. Schermerhorn. Nelson seconded by March moved that the appointments be conformed. Carried. Chief of Police Puryear appointed P. A. Thomas and D. Butler as patrolman. Bryan seconded by Goodell moved the apponitments be confirmed. Carried. Nelson seconded by Robbins moved that J. T. Sargent be appointed water superintendent. Carried. Resignation of J. T. Sargent as councilman was read. March seconded by Nelson moved that the resignation be accepted. Car rie d . March seconded by Robbins moved that the nominations be closed. Carried. The vote upon be lot was Barnes 3 and Haylett 3. Upon a second ballot the vote stood the same. D. Jaynes was withdrawn. Robbins seconded by Nelson moved that the nominations J. F. O'Herin elected to fill vacancy caused by J. T. Nelson seconded by Pyles move} that R. B. McFarland be and sewer map at a salary of 150 per month. Upon roll call all co--ncilmen voted YES. Nelson seconded by ,arch moved the meeting adjourn. Upon roll calla all councilmen voted YES. A letter from SuperiStendetnt Shannon was read. Nelson seconded by Robbins moved that the Clerk be instructed to write Mr. Shannon tellin him that about 1300 feet of sewer is to be cleaned and as refuse from round house plugged same the council t1rot that the Northern Pacific Railroad Cc would pay part of the cost of cleaning same as the city feels the N. P. is responsible for the present condition of the sever. Cathed. A letter from the Benton Franklin Inter County Bridge Company in regar d to the installat pf a light at Ainswotth and tenth avenues was read. Also a letter from H. B Jensen in aegard to the same matter was read. Nelson seconded by Goodell moved that the Pacific Power and Ligh' Co. be instructed to in a light and at Ainsworth and tenth avenues. Carried. R. B. McFarlAnd petitioned the council on behalf of residents of seventh arra. Shoshone etr for a light at said corner. Haylett seconded by Nelson moved that the Pacific Power and Light Co. be instructed to place a light on the S. E. corner at seventh street and Shoshone Street. Carried. Ppinion of City attorney Johnson in rega d to pa. ing Chief of Police Sullivans bills in connection with his broken jaw was read. Application of J. B. Lee for a soft drink establishment was read. Goodell seconded by Haylett moevd. that the license be granted. Carried. Robbins seconded by Belson moved that the Bills of Dr. MacKenzie and Bra. Hamley and Ka-nmann dor services rehdered Chief of Police Sullivan be laid on the table.carried. Nelson seconded ny Haylett moved the meeting adjourn. Carried.
