Haylett seconded by Sargent moved that the mayor appoint a committee to investigate a/water
system for the City. Carried.
Mayor Warden appointed Haylett, Robbins and Goodell as the committee.
Robbins seconded by Haylett moved that the city send Chief of Police Sullivan to Couer ve
Alone to attend a northwest convention of sheriffs and police officers and to also send„
him to Walla Walla to a state meeting of same officiers.
Upog roll call all oouncilemi present voted YES.
Haylett seconded by Goodell moved that city accept Ford Coupe and sell same for payment of
fine. Carried.
Haylett seconded by Bargent moved that the fire chief place a hose cart and 400 feet of Hose
on East Side providing the property holders build house for same.

Haylett seconded by Sargent moved that the Purchasing Agent be instructed to purchase 500
feet of new hose and a new no zzle.

The Council met in regular session with Mayor Warden presiding.
The following answered roll call: Goodell, Haylett, Nelson, Robbins, and Sargent.
The minutes of July 7th ware read a, -d there being no objections the Mayor declared them
approved as read.
The following bills approved by the claims committee were read.

Nelson seconded by Robbins moved that the bills be allowed and warrants drawn fo: same.
Upon roll call all councilmen present vented YES.
Nelson seconded by Sargent moved that the street and alley committee be authorized to emply
an engineer to get a line on Oregon Street to City limits and employ necessary help to
remove sage brush so that it will be passable.
Carried.
Haylett seconded by Nelson moved that the purchasing agent investigate the coal situation
and if necessary call for bids for city coal.

Letter from the library board recommending Miss,Peck #s be appointed to the facancy caused
by the resignation of Mrs Jones was read.
Mayor Warden appointed Miss Edith Peck to the vacancy caudsed by Aire Jones.
Haylett seconded by Nelson moved that the appointment be confirmed.
Carried.
Nelson seoonded by Satgent moved that Miss Mabel Reasoner be appointed as deputy city Clerk
for registration purposes at a salary of $20 per month providflkg she keeps the books open
until 8 o'clock on Saturday evenings.
Carried.
Sargent seconded by Ne'_son moved that the water superintendent and some representative from
t1B Irrigatioon Distrietset water supply thru meters fvv each district so as to allow the
maximum dailynwater supply for each district based upon amount of water due each district
Water Superintend,nt and sone representative from the Irrigation District check meters
betwenn this date and next council meeting to determine their accuracy.
Carried.
Nelson seconded by Haylett moved that the meeting adjourn.
