HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-06-1922 MinutesMay 16, 1922. The Council met in regular session with Mayor Warden presiding. The fo,llwoing answered roll call: Haylett, Goodell, Nelson, Robbins, and Sargent. T,ke minutes on May 2nd and 5th were read and there being no objections the Mayor declared them approved as read. Upon roll call all councilmen present voted YES. Application of S. P.Ming to operatr a dance hall pavilion at Lots 5&6 Block 18 Gerrys add. to Pasco was read. Robbins seconded by Nelson moved that the license be granted. Carried. Application of Geo T. Austin to iperate a pool hall and soft drink establishment at 127-9 West Lewis Street was read. Sargent seconded by Nelson moved that the application be laid on the table until next meeting. Upon roll call all �oounvilmsn present voted YES. Robbins seconded by Sargent moved that the Mayor appoint a committee to meet with the County Commissioners relative to the transfer of the corner at 10th and Lewis Streets to the city and The City Attorney to be one of that committee. Carried. Nelson seconded by Haylett moved that the City accept the deed from the county to the gravel pit same to be designated a dumping ground. Carried. Sargent seconded by Nelson moved that the city accept offer of Mr. J. W. Ketner, Con. Engineer to maintain permanent highways within the Ciyt Limits, turning over the state maintenance money jos the County. Upon roll call all councilmen present voted YES. Nelson seconded by Sargent moved that the City Attorney draw up a resolution on the lighting system to be installed. Carried. Haylett seconded by Sargent moved that the City Attorney draw up an ordinance amending Section 2 of Ordinance 294 and repealing Ordinance 316. Carried. Goodell seconded by Sargent moved that the City allow Mrs Golla to lay her sewer pipes in parking strips on the East side of Fourth street to,connect with her property in Block one Sylvesters Parl: Addition and said pipis to be cast iron with 1 leaded joints. Same constituting her own line and sbject to her own maintenance. Upon roll call Goidell, Haylett and Sargent voted Yes. Nelson and Robbins voted No. Carried. Clerk read a resolution fixing the 20th day of June for hearing objections to assessment roll for the maintenance of Local Improvement District #25. Haylett seconded by Goidell moved that the resolution be passed as adopted. Carried. Clerk read a resolution fixingg the 20th day of June as the date for hearing on the assessment roll fro District #43. Haylett seconded by Robbins moved that the resolution be passed as read. Carried. Clerk read resolution fixing the 20th day of June as tie date for hearing on the assessment roll for District #44. Nelson seconded by Robbins moved that the resolution be passed ascread. Car ried. "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION % OF ORDINANCE 310, BEING AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE LICENSING AND REGULATION OF POOL AND BILLIARD HALLS, SOFT DRINK PARLORS AND WLACES AND PROHIBITING THE PUNCH BOARDS, EO AS TO PREVENT ANY MINOR FROIi REMAINING IN ANY POOL OR BILLIARD HALL" was read. Haylett seconded by Robbins moved that the ordinance be laid on the table until the next meeting and all vouneilmen be requested to be present. Goodell, Nelson, and Sarr-ent voted No. Haylett and Robbins voted YES. Chief of Police Sullivan was reglEested to go,and get Counvilmen March and Reynolds. Sargent seconded by Nelson moved that the ordinance be passed and adopted Xas read. Upon roll call all councilmen voted YES. Carried. Haylett seconded by Goodell moved that the meeting adjourn. Committee in regard to pirehasing corner at Lewis and 16th streets recommended that City parchase lots 7, 8. and 9 and part of lot 10, if necessary,of Block 4 Pettits Addition from County for approximdnly $100 providing county will improve that portion of same nec- essary to illiminate sharp turn from Lewis #o 10thand maintain the some. Reynolds seconded by Sargent moved that the report beadopted. Carried. Reynolds seconded by Robbins moved that thencity be authorized to spend $100 to purchase lots desetibed. Upon roll call all councilmen present voted YES. Mr. W. H. Aubin handed in his resignation as water superintendent to take effect Rune 20. Reynolds seconded by March moved that .a committee be appointed to talk with Mr. H. B. Voshell,or other suitable man, as to taking position of water superintendent and hire him if he will take it. Car rie d. Mayor Warrden appointed Reynolds, Nelson and Robbins as said co-,rmittee. An Ordinanse Repealing Ordinance #316, and amending section 2 of Ordinance #294, which is an ordinance to regulate water for irrigation purposes and fixing penalties for vi- olation thereof. Nelson seconded by Sargent moved that the ordinance be passed and adopted as read. Carried. An ordinace vacating certain stret-ts in Steffins Amended Addition was read. Reynolds seconded by Nelson moved that the ordinance be passed and adopted as read ant Mr Byers be presented withbill for publication. Carried. A resolution on the street lighting was read. Reynolds seconded by Goodell moved that the resoltyion be adopted as read. Carried. Nhas W. Johnson tendered the cemetery to the city on behalf of The K. P. Lodge and -ethers. iielson seconded by March moved that the city accept the cemetary from K. P. Lodge #60 and City Attorney draw up ordinance along lines indicated by Mr. Johnson and said ordinace to provide for acceptance and regulation of same. Carried. Sargent seconded by Nelson moved that the City Attorney draw an4 ordinance condeming all trees;exeept frmit trees, within 30 feet on each side of sewer main or lateral. City will remove trees from streets and alleys and property owner trees from,own propert. Upon roll call Haylett, March, Nelson, Goodell, and Sargett voted YES.
