Moved by Steffins, seconded by Chute. th.t city clerk draw a warrant for
•,100.00 to defray expeiiees of Pire Chief to convention to San Diego, California,

City Clerk Dol,,n reported that it was necessary for him to be absent from
the city for about ten days and requested council to authorize expense of a
substitute during his absence. Irloved by Holt, seconded by Chute, that City
Clerk Dolan employe a deputy at the rate of •,3.00 per day for the time he is
absent from the city during the month of August. Motion carried, all councilmen
voting in favor of same.
Motion to adjourn carried.
Note by Clerk. On all motions put to council except those voted upon by
acclamction, mayor pro tem Reardon voted with council, concurring in all motions.

Following notice of special meeting of the council to be held at eight
o'clock F. Ll. August 25th, 1916 duly served upon -11 councilmen, council
met in extra session as per notice, the follo•,ing n,.med councilmen answering
roll call: Chute, F^lk, Harrison, Holt, reardon, Steckel and Steffins.

Discussion of proposed budgett for 1917 follored, reading of minutes
of previous meetings being dispensed with until next regular m-oting.
Loved by Holt, ceconded b„y Chute total appropriation for Clerk's
office for 1917 be fixed at l�402.00, to be segregated as follows:
Salary of Clerk at 51.00 per month, ,, 12.00. Salary of Deputy at 629.00
par month, Q348.00. Expenses and equipment x$'42.00. RIotion carried by
acclamation.
Moved by Holt, seconded by Steffins that total anpropri tion for the
Legal Deprrtment be fixed at X570.00, to be segregated as follows:
Salary $420.00. Court costs, expenses and gquipment $150.00. Motion
carried by acclamation.
Moved by Chute, seconded by Steffins, that appropriation for Police
Department for 1917 be fixed at ,2115.00, seg-reg.ted as follows:
Salary 52040.00. Extra police hire ',,50.00. Expenses and equipment 25.00.
Carried by acclamation.
Lloved by Reardon, seconded by Harrison, that appropriation for meals
for prisoners be fixed at ;360.00. Motion carried by acclamation.

ment for 1917, to be segregated as follows: Salary X180.00. Expense and
equipment $50.00. Curried by acclamation.
Lloved by Harrieon, seconded by Reardon, that allowance for Treasurer's
office be fixed at X1440.00, to be segregated as follows - y'1140.00 for Treas-
urer's Salary; ;x100.00 for deputy hire, ,200.60 for Expense and gquipment.

Moved by Reardon, seconded by Chute that the City Clerk be instructed to
draw up the budget for 1917 in accordance with allowances made by council at
this meeting, and to have proper publication of notice of hearing made in
city official p!'per. Motion carried, all councilmen concurring.
