Council met in regular session.
Follo.ring n.mled councilmen answered roll call. Chute, Palk, Holt,
:teardon,-teckel and Steffins.
Minutes of meeting of Harch 7th read by Glen-,. ilo objections being raised
to minutes, mayor ordered same to stand approved as read.
Councilman Harrison arrived and took his seat in counci-'.
Cleric read communication from Pacific PoTer & Light Company, returning
warrants drawn in payment of February light bits. I.4oved by Jteckel,
seconded by Reardon, that communicati-n from Pacific Power & Light Company
be accepted and placed on file. All councilmen voting eye, motion carried.
Clerk read communication from The Paci fie Telephone and 'lelegrar;h
Company, dated at Spokane, _--larch 14, 1916, in which they refer to new telephone
franchise. .-oved by Steffinc seconded by-.eardon, that communic:=tion from
Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company be referred to committmon telephone
matters now in existence. Motion carried, all members concurring.
Special committee on telephone matters reported no further action taken
since previous meeting account of rumor that local telephone plait had been sold.
Committee on Library investigation reported that they had met -with the
Library �onrd and that the Library -card had atised them that by removing the
telephone, cutting off the janitor's salary and making other retrenchments
they.believed the expense of maintenance for 1916 could be kept within the bud-
get allowance. _:Loved by holt, seconded by Chute, that the report of committee
on library matter be accepted. Carried. Mayor ordered committee discharged.
City attorney presented check f -r ;35.00 given in payment of claim of city
against R. Taylor for damage to cluster light pole on Fourth Avenue.
Street & Alley Committee reported that on account of the absence of the city
engineer from the city no action has been taken in regard to ihe grade on 5th Ut.
south of A. Street. Committee ordered to report at next meeting.
Committee on Light, Fire & hater reported th^t no further action had been
taken in regard to Pacific Power & Light Co. controversy. Mayor granted committee
further time.
