The Mayors Veto of Ordinances Nos. 24 - 245- 246 and 247 as follows was read. To the Honorable City Uouncil, City of Pasco, Jashington. tP, 210 Gentleman: You are hereby notified that I have this day vetoed Ordinances No. 244- 245- 246- and 247. Ordinance No. 244 iS vetoed for the reason that said Ordinance repeals Ordinance No. 89 and all anmendments thereto fixing the salaries of certain City odfi®ers, and the signing of this 0_•dinance and the vetoing of Ordinances No, 245- 246- and 247 would leave certain of the City officers without any sal- ary whatsoever. Ordinance No. 245 is vetoed for the reason that I do not beleive the sum of twenty five dollars to be a reasonable salary for the City Clerk. the voters of the City of Pasco have seen fit to re-elect the present incumbent, knowing what his duties and salary have been in the past. There is much pity business for the City Clerk to look after in addition to acting as Police Judge for the City, and it almoast necessary for the convenience of the public that his office be kept open during the regular business hours. The present salary of eighty fine dollars per month is not an unreasonable amount to pay a man for his entire time. The reduction of the salary of this office as proposed by this OrddLnance would necessit to the appointment of a police judge at consider- anle expense to the City and the additional expense of registering the voters c of the City. At the present tdme the City Clerk discharges both of these duties. Ordinance lio. 246 is vetoed for the reason it would be in conflict with Ordinance No. 89, after vetming Ordinance No. 244, and for the further reason that only three Councilmen voted for sa)yl Ordinance and Section 7683 of Remington and Ballinger's Code makes it necessary for at least four 1ouncidmen to vote for an ordinance before it has any force or effect. Ordinance No. 247 is vetoed for the same reason given herein for vetming Ordinance No. 246. Dated at Pasco, Washington, thiA 20th day of Npvember, 1914. GEO. Fl. ZENT. Mayor City of Pasco. Moved b77 Driscoll, ceeconded by Greame „ thaT`s.^id Veto be accepted and placed on file and sgbme be spread on the minutes. Motion carried and so ordered.
