Re: Change Order #5, Road 68 Improvements Phase 2 and Interconnect Rd 68 Signals
Change Order No. 5 reflects the revisions to the Road 68 Improvements Phase 2 Project listed below. This
change order was requested by the City.
1) The original design plans specify using the City of Pasco's standard for sign installation. This
standard does not have an option for breakaway signs. Since the signs installed within the medians
on this project are within the Clear Zone they need to be breakaway. This change order is to switch
the installation to a breakaway sign type. Three of the signs were installed without being breakaway
type, these will need to be removed and reinstalled to be breakaway. Two signs have not been
installed yet, and will be installed with a breakaway bracket.
2) The removal and reinstallation of the signs will require additional traffic control.
The Following Table shows the costs associated with Change Order #5.

The City doesn't currently have a standard for breakaway signs. After a meeting with Paul Rhoads Assistant
Operations Manager, and Mike Pawlak City Engineer, it was decided that we would try the POZ-LOC Slip
Base System which was submitted by the Contractor in this location. Three of the signs will have to be
removed and reinstalled. This will require cutting into the new concrete medians to remove the signs, and
prep for the new sign foundation. Due to the labor intensity of this work, it was determined that the unit price
for removal and reinstallation of these signs was appropriate. Two of the signs have not yet been installed;
the only additional work for these signs will be the installation of the POZ-LOC Slip Base. Since we haven't
utilized this item before we are unsure of the cost to install. Given that this is an addition and a small quantity
the price was found to be acceptable.
