HomeMy WebLinkAboutN-273 - SmokingCITY OF PASCO ADMINISTRATIVE ORDERS Administrative Order No. 273 Personnel Policies & Procedures Subject: Smoking Prohibited Initial Effective Date: July 26, 1985 Revised 1/18/95 1 2 / Approved GC This Administrative Order is effective January 27, 2014, and supersedes Administrative Orders No. 45 dated 7/26/85 and No. 45A dated 1/18/95. I. PURPOSE: This Administrative Order is issued to update and amend previous policies regarding smoking in City facilities and vehicles. II. DEPARTMENTS AFFECTED: All III. REFERENCES: RCW 70.160 IV. DEFINITIONS: Smoke /Smoking: The carrying or use of (inhale, exhale) of any kind of lighted pipe, cigar, cigarette, or any other lighted smoking equipment. This definition also includes electronic cigarettes. V. POLICY: A. Smoking is prohibited in all City of Pasco facilities including, but not limited to, city buildings and city vehicles. B. Smoking is allowed during approved breaks and meal periods; however, not in City buildings or vehicles. State law mandates that smokers remain a minimum distance of twenty-five feet from entrances, exits, windows that open and ventilation intakes for any public building. C. There will be no smoking of marijuana while on duty or on any City property (buildings, vehicles, parking lots, etc.). Employees should refer to Administrative Order No. 65A regarding a drug -free workplace and testing requirements for certain employees. D. Smokers will not be allowed additional breaks over the two rest breaks (first half of shift and second half of shift) and meal break. E. Violators of this policy will be subject to discipline.
