HomeMy WebLinkAboutHPC Minutes 2013-06-26 Open House Press Release Pasco Historic Planning Project Underway
A new project to create an historic preservation plan for Pasco is well underway this
summer. A public meeting in the last week of June focused on gathering input on the
strengths and opportunities in historic preservation, as well as what could be included in
the preservation plan. Additionally, key stakeholders have been interviewed and the
Pasco Historic Preservation Commission has provided feedback and guidance for the
project.
Here's what people are saying about the direction of historic preservation in Pasco:
• Pasco's greatest strengths in historic preservation are its rich and layered history
and the existing partnerships between organizations.
• There needs to be more outreach and promotion regarding Pasco's heritage.
• There should be more research and more recognition of historic properties,
including establishing a Pasco Register of Historic Places.
• Partnerships should be strengthened in order to maximize existing resources
between heritage organizations, government entities, the downtown organization
and heritage tourism.
The public process continues through July 31. If you'd like to make a comment or
