REGULAR MEETING 5:15 P.M. August 14, 2013
I. 5:15—CALL TO ORDER:
II. 5:15—ROLL CALL: Present: Malin Bergstrom, Tom Brandon, Dan Stafford,
Devi Tate. Absent: Marilynn Baker.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
July 10, 2013—Approved.
IV. 5:20—OLD BUSINESS:
A. None
V. PUBLIC HEARINGS:
A. None
VI. WORKSHOP:
A. Commissioners discussed the first markup full draft of the Historic
Preservation Plan with comments from staff and Commissioner Bergstrom.
B. Also discussed e-mail from Consultant Teresa Brum explaining the
Commission's role as "Design Review Committee" for properties contracted
under the proposed Local Register. Survey properties also discussed.
C. Commissioners Stafford and Bergstrom suggested additional information to
add to Pasco History section of Plan to flesh out Railroad history and to add
balance to aviation vs. NAS history. Staff noted that appendices might be a
more appropriate location for important but more detailed references and
links to historic points of interest not directly related to the planning focus of
the document.
D. Commissioner Bergstrom suggested a section on ways the City and
Commission could assist private/nonprofit groups dealing with governmental
agencies reluctant to preserve historic resources on their properties, such as
the NAS Pasco air traffic control tower.
VII. 5:55—OTHER BUSINESS:
A. Commissioners assigned to look over draft and submit to staff page-
referenced comments, clarifications, and suggestions, along with any photos
they wish to add/replace to the final draft on or before August 22nd 2013.
These comments, clarifications, suggestions, and photos which would be
shared with the Commission before submitting to Consultant Teresa Brum.
